Background

Yan was originally Li Yan, a twenty-six-year-old office worker who died from overwork and reincarnated as Uchiha En. His new body belonged to an ordinary Uchiha branch family, but his parents had died on a mission when he was nine; the clan left him with a small pension and a dilapidated house at the edge of its grounds. 1

Despite extensive knowledge of the shinobi world from his previous life, Yan initially possessed exceptionally poor chakra talent. He failed the Clone Technique, could barely produce sparks with Fire Release, and could not maintain basic tree-climbing. His academic knowledge was excellent, but he ranked near the bottom in practical Academy instruction. 1 2

For three months, Uchiha Yashiro and his followers bullied Yan. After they ambushed him at the Nanga River and forced him into the water, a near-death crisis activated the Magma-Magma Fruit, basic Observation Haki, and a physique enhancement. Yan drove the bullies away rather than killing them, largely because remembering Minato stopped him from acting on his rage. 2
