"Lord Hokage, is there anything you need me to do?" Kakashi cautiously called out to wake the Third Hokage, who had sunk into his own thoughts.
"Kakashi, Konoha simply does not have enough manpower right now. First, go help the injured villagers, then keep an eye on Sasuke... Forget it, leave the rescue efforts alone! You have only one order: keep watch over Sasuke. Nothing can happen to him again!"
The Third Hokage looked at Kakashi solemnly.
Kakashi was somewhat puzzled. Instead of sending him out of the village on a mission, the Third Hokage wanted him to watch Sasuke? What was the reasoning behind that?
But the Third Hokage had already made up his mind.
He would use Second Pillar as leverage, along with Uchiha Itachi's feelings for Konoha.
He would make Uchiha Itachi and Uchiha Feng kill each other.
If the things Uchiha Feng had used truly were contingencies left behind by the Uchiha Clan, then having Uchiha Itachi make a move was the best choice.
"You may leave now. Make sure nothing happens to Second Pillar." The Third Hokage lowered his head back to his documents.
Still confused, Kakashi walked out of the office.
Just as Kakashi left, an Anbu ninja came to report.
"Lord Hokage, the heads of the various ninja clans and the jonin have all arrived. Shall we begin now?"
The Anbu ninja respectfully asked for instructions.
"There are more and more matters to deal with. I can barely keep up anymore!" The Third Hokage pressed a hand to his forehead, only then recalling the order he had issued yesterday.
This battered Konoha still needed to be rebuilt. After all, the Sarutobi Clan was now the true master of this village.
"Let's go! To the conference room!" The Third Hokage rose to his feet.
