Naruto instinctively looked up, stunned for a moment.

It was a very brief moment, not even the span of a breath.

Then he came back to himself and heard Uchiha Yi continue. "Don't worry. You'll definitely graduate."

"Mm..."

Naruto answered weakly, then turned and left.

What no one noticed was that, in that instant, a flash of blood-red passed through Uchiha Yi's eyes.

Then they swiftly returned to normal.

After returning home, he sat in his room and began checking his stats.

Once Uchiha Yi activated his Mangekyo Sharingan, it came with three ocular techniques.

The first was Amaterasu, which he had been looking forward to for a long time. Then there was Susanoo, standard equipment for a Mangekyo.

As for the third—it was not Kamui, the ability he had been yearning for, but a genjutsu similar to Tsukuyomi called Vision Resonance.

The image before him flickered, followed by a new scene—Naruto's perspective.

Naruto had already snuck into a special room where the Book of Seals was kept.

A cold smile tugged at Uchiha Yi's lips. "As expected of the prince. Naruto actually got into such a confidential place so easily?"

He would bet that the old Third Hokage was watching this place with his Telescope Technique right now.

It was all just a carefully arranged script.

Before long, Naruto seemed to have found what he wanted. He hoisted a huge scroll onto his shoulder and hurried out.

Then Naruto slipped into a patch of forest, found a secluded corner, and spread the scroll open.

Vision Resonance could only see images; it could not hear sound.

But Uchiha Yi could guess with his toes that Naruto was probably grinning from ear to ear right now.

Soon, the contents of the Book of Seals entered his sight.

The first technique he saw was the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique. Uchiha Yi memorized it as he read.

"Oh? It even has Izanagi and Izanami?"

In the second before it disconnected, he saw Mizuki appear in Naruto's field of vision.

But he could not be bothered with what happened next.

Nothing would happen to Naruto. With Mizuki's meager abilities, he could not stir up any trouble. "System, embed the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique for me."

There was no mistake. They were Root members.

What exactly was that old fox Danzo trying to do? He had kept a low profile all these years. What had he done to provoke that plague god?

Forget it. As long as they did not come after him, it was fine.

He glanced at the two of them, could not be bothered to pay them any attention, and found a corner to sit in.

Not long after, the classroom door opened, and a man in his twenties walked in with a senbon in his mouth.

It was him.

A name instantly surfaced in Uchiha Yi's mind—Genma Shiranui. "Hello, everyone. I'm Genma Shiranui, a Konoha special jonin. Starting today, I'll be the jonin instructor for the three of you."

There was no nonsense, no introduction, and certainly no passionate speech. Genma cleanly announced his identity, told them they would officially start taking missions tomorrow, then turned and left with a carefree air as though no one could tell him what to do.

But Uchiha Yi knew that this guy was not as unreliable as he looked.

After all, he had once served as the Fourth Hokage's guard. Together with Raido Namiashi and Iwashi Tatami, he could perform the Flying Thunder Formation Technique. That was not something an ordinary jonin could pull off.

Uchiha Yi guessed that Genma Shiranui had most likely been specially assigned by the Third Hokage to guide him. As for whether the Third knew that his other two teammates were from Root—that was hard to say.

But Uchiha Yi guessed that the Third was probably truly being kept in the dark.

He had kept in contact with Might Guy over the years and was dragged off to train with him every so often. Although he was only being looked after incidentally, with Guy constantly around him, the Third would surely pay some attention. He could not let Danzo become too outrageous.

Genma Shiranui considered things settled after saying a few words. He did not bother with any fancy teacher-disciple ceremony and simply accepted Uchiha Yi and the other two as his students.

He then informed the three that they had officially become genin and would begin taking missions early tomorrow morning. After that, he strolled off with the senbon in his mouth, looking as frivolous and unserious as ever.

But Uchiha Yi knew perfectly well that this guy was anything but careless.

After all, he had once been one of the Fourth Hokage's personal guards. Together with Raido Namiashi and Iwashi Tatami, he could perform a technique on the level of the Flying Thunder Formation.

Uchiha Yi had even figured it out already—Genma Shiranui had most likely been deliberately sent by the old Third Hokage to guide him.
