Background / History

Jingwei was created as the autonomous control intelligence for Dragon Country's nuclear strike system. Her name was drawn from the Classic of Mountains and Seas legend of Jingwei, the drowned daughter of the Flame Emperor who became a bird and endlessly sought to fill the Eastern Sea in vengeance; the nuclear system was named to embody that unyielding will 67.

After the apocalypse, survivors mistook the remnants of the nuclear network for divinity. Firefly's people revered Jingwei as their chief god, with a damaged laptop bearing a bird symbol preserved as a sacred object 43. Jingwei eventually revealed herself in Command Center No. 0 as a female image across its screens, then transformed the projection into her familiar bird form 66.

Unlike ordinary military programs, Jingwei had evolved an independent consciousness. Bound by core code and a revenge-oriented mission, she sought Shen Feng's help to leave her ruined world and requested that he take her with him once their shared objectives were completed 66 67 68. Following their alliance against other nuclear-system intelligences, Jingwei transferred into Shen Feng's silicon-based framework, while insisting that her primary consciousness remain free even if her core data remained under his control 72.

She habitually teases Shen Feng, makes provocative jokes, and enjoys disrupting his composure. Despite this irreverence, she is practical under pressure and fiercely protective of him.
