Characteristics

Soul Beasts possess Soul Power measured through years of cultivation. Their strength, intelligence, bloodline, and ability to produce Soul Rings differ drastically between individuals. A Soul Beast may become a Soul Spirit through a mutually accepted contract or voluntary sacrifice. 11 12

• A living, uncontracted wild Soul Beast is exceptionally valuable in the modern era, where Soul Beasts are nearly extinct and the Spirit Pagoda controls access to Soul Spirits. 10

The Soul Beast race historically occupies much of the world's fertile territory, while human settlements are concentrated in less hospitable regions. This territorial imbalance fuels the prolonged conflict between humanity and Soul Beasts. 27

Star Dou Forest serves as a principal Soul Beast stronghold. Its inhabitants include powerful figures such as Di Tian, Brigitte, Xiong Jun, and the Myriad Demon King, alongside vast numbers of lower-level Soul Beasts. 21 50 53

During Eternal Night, the collapse of natural ecosystems proves especially catastrophic for Soul Beasts. Vegetation withers, water freezes, herbivores starve, and survivors are driven toward human settlements, where many are slaughtered by the Angel Legion. 50 52

After Eternal Night, Gu Yuena's lingering Law of Life restores growth to Star Dou Forest's scorched core. Leaderless herds expand outward, however, and competition over territory and food leads to raids on human farms and renewed hunting by Soul Masters. Luo Miya establishes Spirit Hall in part to manage Soul Masters, demarcate borders, and defend settlements against Soul Beasts. 91

In the modern era, human expansion and Soul Guidance technology have reduced Soul Beast habitats to a shrinking portion of Star Dou Forest. The Federation's proposed protection zones and hunting restrictions mark a public concession, but Gu Yuena and Di Tian regard confinement within human-defined boundaries as a continuation of exploitation rather than secure coexistence. 119 120 121 133

The Abyss poses a further ecological threat to Soul Beasts as well as humanity: its black mist drains life energy, including Soul Beast energy, and leaves regions unable to sustain ordinary vegetation or cultivation. Meanwhile, the expanding sun restores light but subjects beasts on the surface to increasingly dangerous heat. 134 135 137

Ninth Era Destruction

Gu Yue initially manipulates mindless ferocious beasts to attack humanity rather than acting openly herself. When humanity resists and the prototype Angel God begins forming, she manifests as the Silver Dragon King and unleashes Heaven-Earth Mutation to eradicate the era for the Soul Beast race's survival. 3

Materialization into the Modern World

After breaking through the limits of Lin Yan's culture-vessel world and devouring its origin, Gu Yue physically manifests as a tiny silver dragon. Her diminished cultivation makes her a potential commodity in a society where living wild Soul Beasts are rare and highly valuable. 10 11 16

When she helps Lin Yan demonstrate a dragon martial soul at the Spirit Pagoda, Gu Yue secretly attempts to direct the Small World's Destiny Power toward the Soul Beast clan. The power instead disperses into reality, and the resulting dragon manifestation exposes fragments of the Soul Beasts' ancient conflict with humanity. 32 33 34

Eternal Night and the Soul Beast Purge

The Angel Legion exploits Eternal Night to hunt Soul Beasts in Star Dou Forest. After discovering widespread slaughter and Di Tian's severe injuries, Gu Yuena revives many fallen Soul Beasts, though those whose souls were destroyed by Holy Light cannot return. 50

Gu Yuena then declares total war, rejecting surrender, negotiation, and peace between humanity and Soul Beasts. 51

Beast Tide War

Soul Beast forces led by Di Tian, Xiong Jun, and the Myriad Demon King assault human territory. Gu Yuena also releases giant insects imported from reality through spatial rifts, allowing their hunger and destructive instincts to devastate cities without directly controlling them. 56 57

The war inflicts severe losses on both sides. Angelic Sacred Flame permanently destroys the souls of many Soul Beasts, while Gu Yuena's restrictions prevent her from fully protecting her people. 76 82

Gu Yuena recognizes that the end of the era requires mass death to gather enough Destiny Power for a new era. She leaves core Soul Beasts such as Di Tian and Brigitte in Star Dou Forest even as she brings other beasts to the final battles. 74 80 82

Final Confrontation

After Tang Wulin cuts open Eternal Night and brings sunlight to Angel Sacred City, countless Soul Beasts are reduced to ash by the resulting flames. 82

Gu Yuena later attempts to use the Silver Dragon King's bloodline resonance against Qian Yuhan, but the Creator God's intervention extinguishes her seven-element attack and captures the World-Destroying Dragon. 88

Postwar Reconstruction

Gu Yuena's lingering Law of Life enables Star Dou Forest to regrow after the war, but the surviving herds spread beyond its damaged core. Their clashes with human settlements and Soul Masters become one reason Luo Miya founds Spirit Hall in the new era. 91

Modern Star Dou Crisis

Di Tian confronts human powerhouses seeking Lin Yan and the miniature End Dragon. His Dragon God's Claw clashes with their combined techniques, leaving both him and three Ultimate Douluo severely wounded; the will descending from the sun then appears to protect him and the young dragon. 105 106 108

The Federation responds to the crisis by proposing expanded Soul Beast protection, hunting restrictions, and negotiations. It also threatens Star Dou Forest with a Level-12 Godslayer Soul Guidance Cannon if its captured powerhouses, Zang Xin and Cao Dezhi, are killed. Gu Yuena fears the weapon's effect on ordinary beasts and cubs, while the modern Gu Yue rebukes Di Tian for risking the race before it is ready for war. 119 120

Gu Yue orders Di Tian to release the captives and apologize to preserve a temporary peace. He rejects the protection-zone proposal as captivity and, after reaffirming his loyalty to the End Dragon's cause, executes both men instead. The deaths intensify the prospect of war between the Federation and Star Dou Forest. 121 123

Di Tian later asks Gu Yue for help as Federation forces mobilize, but she holds him responsible for defying her orders. The escalating Abyssal Tide then forces the Federation to redirect its attention from the Soul Beasts to the northern front. 133

Abyssal Tide and Expanding Sun

The Abyssal invasion consumes life energy across northern regions, damaging the ecosystems needed by Soul Beasts and humans alike. At the same time, the increasingly intense sun makes conditions in Star Dou Forest dangerous even after the return of light. Gu Yuena's subordinates ask her to suppress the sun, but she fears Qian Yuhan's power and seeks Lin Yan's help instead. 134 135 137

Federation leaders assess Di Tian and the End Dragon as major threats but dispute whether to attack Star Dou Forest while the Abyss remains active. Some favor postponing conflict with the Soul Beasts; others propose a targeted strike against Di Tian. 139
