Background

Lin Yan is a transmigrator who awakened the god-tier Martial Souls Space and Time two years before the story. Because neither concept could be visually observed during awakening, he was dismissed as possessing a useless Martial Soul despite his innate full soul power. 1

His family’s finances collapsed after Father Lin died on the Abyssal Battlefield and Mother Lin lost five hundred thousand yuan on a fraudulent “Tang Sect” milk-tea franchise. Lin Yan’s older sister then took the remaining family savings and left. 1 Seeking money for a soul spirit, Lin Yan applied for a loan at the Spirit Transmission Tower, but Su Hai Tao rejected him; Su nevertheless gave him two hundred yuan from his own wallet. 1

Mother Lin later mortgaged their home, leaving Lin Yan with debt collectors and a letter blaming him and his sister for the family’s situation. In the wrecked kitchen, Lin Yan discovered that his mushroom pot contained a microscopic civilization whose creation and destruction generated spiritual-power feedback for him. 2

After Gu Yue entered the miniature world and devastated the Ninth Era, Lin Yan froze the world’s time flow, destroyed the era, and retained Qian Yuhan and Poseidon as potential sources of future feedback. The resulting energy brought him to the level-ten bottleneck, but he remained unable to advance without a soul ring. 3 4

Gu Yue eventually materialized from the Petri Dish into reality. Lin Yan confined her, initially considering her scales, body, or soul-beast value as ways to obtain money or a soul ring; he later accepted her offer to provide god-bestowed soul rings instead. 5 10 11 15

Still unable to find ordinary work, Lin Yan resumed using his little world to grow mushrooms and tried selling them in Eastsea City. Although he initially poisoned himself while demonstrating the mushrooms’ safety, Ouyang Zixin helped him recover and exchanged contact information with him. Gu Yuena later purified the mushrooms so that he could sell them safely at the vegetable market. 41 43 44

Within the Tenth Epoch of his created world, Lin Yan entered through the world membrane as the Creator God to receive Gu Yuena’s god-bestowed soul-ring support. 24 During the later war between humanity and the soul beasts, Qian Yuhan used his unconscious body to force Gu Yuena’s retreat. 63 At a later point, an enshrined Lin Yan—too weak to speak normally—used elemental writing to tell Qian Yuhan that the era could only be saved by an unwavering life bearing the authority of an Outer God and becoming its new sun. 75 85

Yun Ming’s attempt to take Lin Yan for investigation was interrupted by Qian Yuhan and the Golden Dragon King’s solar intervention. Lin Yan is practical to the point of ruthlessness. Poverty, expulsion, and a lack of access to soul-master resources shape his immediate priorities: food, money, soul rings, and survival. He sees Gu Yue’s scales, contract potential, purification ability, and divine abilities primarily as resources that can solve those problems. 6 10 11 15

He is also highly cautious. Having watched Gu Yue evolve from one of his own creations into a being capable of threatening him, he deliberately binds her future to a world that remains his property and regards her as a potential danger even while cooperating with her. 18 20 21

His worldview as a Creator God is utilitarian and detached. He treats civilizations within his worlds as sources of cultivation feedback, preserving powerful survivors only because they may yield more energy in a later era. 4 20 21

Despite this detachment, Lin Yan is capable of understated kindness and guilt.
