Background / History
Tang San is the son of Tang Hao and Ah Yin, a hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor who had taken human form. His mixed heritage is cited as a possible explanation for the unusual behavior Tang Hao observed while he was growing up: Tang San secretly meditated at night and practiced at dawn using an unfamiliar cultivation method. 26 27
Upon awakening innate full soul power and twin martial souls, Tang San became Tang Hao's hope for avenging Ah Yin. Tang Hao began teaching him the Clear Sky Sect's ultimate techniques, setting aside his prior suspicions about his son. 27
Tang San enrolled at Notting Junior Soul Master Academy and became Yu Xiaogang's disciple. He took pride in Yu's status as the Grandmaster and personally invited Nezha and Xiao Wu to meet him, reacting with visible displeasure when they declined Yu's offer. He was nevertheless privately relieved that Yu would continue focusing on him alone. 23 24
While accompanying Yu Xiaogang to obtain his first soul ring, Tang San fought and killed a four-hundred-year Mandala Snake after Yu was incapacitated by its venom. He absorbed the resulting ring without visible distress. 26 28
Appearance
Tang San is a young boy who commonly wears faded gray cloth clothing patched at the cuffs. Although his face appears youthful, his eyes carry an unusual steadiness. 23 24
- Gray, repeatedly washed clothing with patched cuffs 23
- Straight-backed posture despite keeping his head lowered 23
- Young features paired with an unchildlike, steady gaze 24
Personality
Tang San prefers to focus on studying under Yu Xiaogang rather than lead others. He only becomes the work-study students' boss after defeating Wang Sheng, and initially wants no involvement in their conflict with the self-funded students. 34
He is proud of Yu Xiaogang and defensive of his teacher's reputation. When Nezha and Xiao Wu reject Yu's invitation, Tang San insists that they should be grateful for the opportunity. 24
Tang San reacts poorly to public humiliation. After Nezha catches him preparing to attack Xiao Wu with pebbles and later defeats him with one punch, he harbors a grudge and considers retaliating with hidden weapons, but refrains because other students are watching. 36 37
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses two martial souls, both awakened with innate full soul power. 27
- Blue Silver Grass — His primary displayed martial soul; he uses it as a one-ring Soul Master. 28 37
- Clear Sky Hammer — His second martial soul. 27
- Releases a yellow soul ring alongside Blue Silver Grass during his match against Nezha. 37
Mysterious Heaven Skill
Tang San cultivates the Mysterious Heaven Skill, an inner-force technique that strengthens and channels power through his meridians. 37
- Concentrates its inner force for direct combat. 37
- Its power proves insufficient against Nezha's physical strength in their head-on clash. 37
Mysterious Jade Hand
Tang San can make his hands glow like white jade while channeling his inner force. 26 37
- Uses it to strike the Mandala Snake's vital points. 26
- Attempts to block Nezha's punch with it, but is sent flying. 37
Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track
Tang San uses an unusual evasive footwork technique. 26
- Lets him shift rapidly and evade the Mandala Snake's attacks. 26
- He considers using it to avoid Nezha's charge, but chooses a direct clash instead. 37
Hidden Weapons
Tang San carries and considers using concealed projectiles in combat. 36 37
- Attempts to launch pebbles at Xiao Wu from the sidelines during the academy gauntlet. 36
- Considers using hidden weapons against Nezha after being defeated, but does not act because of the witnesses. 37
Relationships
- Tang Hao — Father. Once suspicious of Tang San's unusual cultivation habits, Tang Hao begins personally training him after witnessing his twin martial souls and innate full soul power. 26 27
- Ah Yin — Mother; a transformed hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor. Tang Hao views Tang San as the one who will avenge her. 27
- Yu Xiaogang — Master. Tang San takes pride in being Yu's disciple and acts as his messenger when Yu seeks to recruit Nezha and Xiao Wu. 23 24
- Nezha — Rival. Nezha exposes Tang San's attempted sneak attack on Xiao Wu and then defeats him with a single punch, leaving Tang San resentful and intent on revenge. 36 37
- Xiao Wu — Academy rival. Tang San attempts to interfere with her fight using pebbles; she responds with open disgust when Nezha exposes him. 36
- Wang Sheng — Fellow work-study student. Tang San becomes the work-study students' recognized boss after defeating him. 34

Academy Boss Conflict
Though reluctant to lead, Tang San represents the work-study students against Xiao Chenyu's self-funded students because the losing side would be forced to become Boss Xiao's “pets.” 34
During the gauntlet, Tang San tries to strike Xiao Wu with pebbles from the sidelines, but Nezha catches his wrist before he can act. He later challenges Nezha directly, only to be incapacitated by one punch despite using the Mysterious Heaven Skill and Mysterious Jade Hand. 36 37
