Aslan's Magic Workshop was indeed remarkably efficient. By the time Wade left, he already held the first edition of the Book of Friends in his hands.
This was a preliminary compilation, linking at least two people and at most fifteen. Its cover was far more exquisite than Wade's casual draft, with gold-edged lettering and faintly swaying Eustomas. The inner pages used different colors and flowers to distinguish the versions: Sunflowers for two people, Tulips for three, Daylilies for four, Violets for five, and so on—all flowers that symbolized friendship.
Wade thought this Book of Friends was already very refined, but Marchioni was not entirely satisfied.
"This is the version aimed at women. They should sprinkle it with a little perfume powder."
"Are there other versions?" Wade asked.
"Of course." Marchioni said, "There's a version aimed at men, with pictures of Green Pines, Crowns, Scepters, Bow and Arrows, and the like; an animal version with Unicorns, Phoenixes, Fire Dragons, and Pegasuses; a children's version with Puffskeins and Fairies; a novelty version with Dementors and Three-headed Dogs; a Quidditch version featuring famous Quidditch players and Flying Broomsticks; and there are also architecture versions, Veela versions, Order of Merlin versions, house versions..."
He rattled off dozens of types in one breath, as if he could produce a whole pile of money-making ideas without even thinking. Finally, he said, "There are all sorts of designs to choose from. Even people who don't need them may buy several just to collect them. But right now, we have the most floral templates, so we'll start with those. If you don't like them, you can give them to your female classmates. Once the other versions are printed, I'll send you several sets of each."
