Barty Jr. let out a pained groan, but soon revealed a smile of relief—his master was examining his memories. Was there any better way to prove his loyalty?
He could feel a hand roughly rifling through his memories. Voldemort could, of course, enter another person's mind without a sound, but at this moment, he deliberately used this method to display his presence and authority.
Barty Jr. braced both hands against the floor, trembling all over as scenes from the past flashed through his mind:
He threw Old Caretaker into the trunk... stood by the door as Filch, watching Harry Potter and his friends walk into the Great Hall laughing and chatting... deliberately picked a fight with Wade, brought him into the office, and was about to make his move when Sirius suddenly appeared...
The speed at which his memories were being searched suddenly slowed. Magic stabbed into the man's consciousness like a knife, and his head hurt as though it were about to split apart.
Yet Barty Jr. still restrained his instinct to fight back, maintaining a submissive posture throughout.
Alastor Moody, wearing a look of utter disgust, forced Veritaserum down his throat and interrogated him viciously...
"No... no... Don't think I'll betray my master..."
Barty Jr. shouted in agony. With sheer force of will, he resisted the effects of Veritaserum, and the Magic Power within him suddenly erupted...
Moody was sent flying and slammed heavily into the wall... Dumbledore suddenly burst in, and Barty Jr.'s vision was filled with blinding light...
He was forced to return to his original appearance, and his identity was exposed... bound to a chair, his head hanging limply as though he were dead... Outside the door, several people were arguing fiercely:
"You can't hand him over to the Ministry of Magic, Dumbledore!"
Moody roared,
