The Five Kage Gather in Konoha to Discuss Postwar Reconstruction and the Division of Benefits
Sen spat out the bitter, rotten grass root in his mouth.
The root was coated in flecks of spit.
It landed in a muddy hollow at Orochimaru's feet.
"Some lousy alien that fell out of the sky?"
Sen narrowed his eyes.
He scratched his itchy eye corner with his little finger.
"You old worm never do anything worthwhile."
"Digging through these lousy scrolls for alien relatives?"
Orochimaru's pale face twitched.
An eerie gleam shone in his snake eyes.
"You'll be interested, Sen."
Black mud engulfed Orochimaru's lower body.
He slowly vanished beneath the rotten tree roots.
Sen had just tucked his hands into his pockets, ready to catch a nap.
A muffled bang rang out.
A thunderous racket erupted from the Hokage Building.
It sounded like a great black bear tearing the place apart.
The Raikage bellowed in his cracked, booming voice.
"This compensation isn't enough!"
"Kumogakure contributed the most!"
"Konoha needs to make up the difference with winter supplies!"
The shouting made Sen's head throb.
He irritably raked a hand through his short hair.
"Can't even get some peace at noon."
"It's a meeting, not a pig slaughter. Quit squealing."
Inside the shabby conference room in the Hokage Building.
The air was thick with stale sweat and bitter tea.
The Raikage slammed his palm down on the long wooden table.
His iron-tower bulk blocked the light from the window.
"The Land of Lightning's losses must be accounted for properly!"
Kakashi's dead-fish eyes drooped.
He slumped in a battered leather chair.
"Please don't get so worked up, Lord Raikage."
"We need to go through the accounts one item at a time."
Ōnoki rubbed his aching old back, spraying spit as he spoke.
"The Land of Earth's defensive lines were shot full of holes too!"
"Konoha must cede three major mines!"
