Background / History

Kakashi had extensive ANBU experience, had been shaped by war, and possessed exceptional mental fortitude before his assignment to Team 7. Hiruzen Sarutobi selected him specifically because his Sharingan could monitor Sen Senju’s chakra flow and because he was considered perceptive enough to guide Sen without trying to forcibly control him. He was also identified as the Fourth Hokage Minato’s former student. 36

Kakashi overheard Konoha’s leadership deciding to place Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, and Sen on his team. Aware of Sen’s reputation and the volatility of the other students, he regarded the assignment as an impossible burden and unsuccessfully asked to be reassigned. 36 37
