Fugaku's Adam's apple bobbed as he forced out two difficult words. "I... agree."
Those two words seemed to drain all the strength from his body, making him slump even more.
Kamizuki Yu's expression remained calm, as though he had expected this outcome all along. "Clan Head Fugaku will be glad for the decision he made today."
He rose without any further pleasantries. "I'll contact you again about the details. As for those two..."
Fugaku immediately understood whom Kamizuki Yu meant.
"I'll arrange it." His voice was hoarse, but it carried a trace of resolve.
The next day, on the back mountain of Nanga Shrine, at a secluded training ground rarely visited by anyone.
The morning mist had yet to fully disperse, and the air was slightly cool.
Itachi Uchiha and Shisui Uchiha stood side by side, their expressions distinctly different.
Itachi was younger, yet unusually composed. His black eyes were unfathomably deep as he quietly observed his surroundings.
Shisui, on the other hand, appeared far more sunny and spirited, with the vigor and enthusiasm of youth between his brows. At this moment, however, he too looked rather grave.
Both had heard their father and clan head mention this Chief Advisor who had suddenly risen to prominence, as well as his unfathomable strength and unpredictable methods.
"Brother Shisui, what do you think... Why exactly has this advisor summoned us?" Itachi asked softly.
Shisui stroked his chin, uncertain. "Father only said that it concerns the Uchiha Clan's future and that we must take it seriously."
He was equally puzzled. The Uchiha Clan's future? Had the clan's situation truly reached the point where they needed an outsider's guidance?
A figure approached from afar, stepping through the morning dew before appearing silently before them.
It was Kamizuki Yu.
He still wore plain, clean clothes and had a gentle demeanor, like an older brother next door. There was none of the oppressive aura one would expect from the powerful figure of rumor.
If they had not known his identity beforehand, it would have been difficult to connect him with the mysterious powerhouse who had shone during the Nine-Tails Attack and had even fought alongside the Fourth Hokage.
"Itachi Uchiha. Shisui Uchiha." Kamizuki Yu's gaze swept across their faces, his tone calm.
That counted as a greeting.
Itachi gave a slight bow.
Shisui was more straightforward. "Advisor Kamizuki Yu, we..."
"No need for formalities." Kamizuki Yu raised a hand, cutting him off. "Time is precious. Let's get straight to the point."
He took several steps forward, standing with his back to the rising sun.
"The Uchiha Clan is facing a calamity that could wipe it out."
His tone was flat, but what he said was earth-shattering.
Itachi's pupils contracted almost imperceptibly, though his aura remained calm.
Shisui's expression changed at once, and he nearly blurted out, "How is that possible? Advisor, are you..."
He had wanted to say that Kamizuki Yu was being alarmist, but when he met those seemingly placid eyes that appeared capable of seeing through everything, he swallowed the rest of his words.
"Impossible?" Kamizuki Yu gave a soft laugh, though no amusement reached his eyes. "Because of the Uchiha Police Force's reputation? Or because you believe your clan has rendered great service to the village?"
Itachi remained silent, rapidly analyzing the implications behind those words.
Shisui frowned deeply. "The Uchiha Clan has always been utterly loyal to the Hidden Leaf. How could there be any talk of extermination?"
"Loyal?" Kamizuki Yu's tone carried a trace of amusement. "Is every Uchiha loyal, or only some of them? Or perhaps the real question is whether the Hidden Leaf's higher-ups believe in your loyalty?"
He paused before dropping another bombshell. "A masked man who used the Sharingan to plot wrongdoing and stir up chaos is enough to doom the entire Uchiha Clan beyond redemption. The higher-ups only need an excuse—an excuse to purge the Uchiha Clan completely."
"A masked man... the Sharingan..." Something flashed through Itachi's mind, but he failed to grasp it.
Shisui's expression turned somewhat ugly.
Kamizuki Yu glanced at him. "Shisui of the Body Flicker, you should know certain methods of the higher-ups better than Itachi does. Have their 'friendly' tests of you ever stopped?"
Shisui's heart shook violently.
Indeed, ever since his name had spread through the shinobi world—especially after certain higher-ups learned of the existence of his Mangekyo Sharingan, though they did not know the exact abilities of Kotoamatsukami—the covert approaches filled with scrutiny and suspicion had never ceased.
Danzo, the leader of Root, had repeatedly sounded him out. His words were filled with covetousness and wariness toward the Uchiha Clan's power.
Shisui had never mentioned these matters in detail to anyone, including the clan head, because he did not want to worsen the conflict between the clan and the village.
Yet now that Kamizuki Yu had exposed it in a single sentence, a chill rose up Shisui's spine.
The danger had been lurking all along.
"Danzo... He has always regarded the Uchiha Clan as a thorn in his side." Shisui's voice was dry.
"Not just him." Kamizuki Yu's tone was utterly emotionless. "Among the Hidden Leaf's higher-ups, many harbor wariness and hostility toward the Uchiha Clan. Clan Head Fugaku tried to protect the clan's interests through a hardline stance, but the result was only to deepen the rift."
He looked at Itachi. "You're very smart. You should be able to see the stupidity of those radicals within the clan. Their so-called resistance is nothing more than accelerating the Uchiha Clan's descent into the abyss."
Itachi pressed his lips together.
He had indeed noticed it. To him, those clansmen clamoring to seize power and show the Hidden Leaf the Uchiha Clan's might were no different from courting death.
But his father seemed to have been swept along by them—or perhaps he too was wavering.
"So, Advisor, by telling us all this today, you intend to..." Itachi finally spoke, his voice calm.
"To give you a choice." Kamizuki Yu extended a finger and lightly tapped the air. "Or rather, to give the Uchiha Clan a choice."
"A choice?" Shisui pressed.
"Choose to march toward destruction amid suspicion and confrontation, or choose to cut out the poison and welcome a rebirth."
Kamizuki Yu's aura abruptly changed.
Beneath that gentle exterior, an indescribably terrifying pressure surged forth like a tsunami.
Itachi and Shisui both felt their breathing stop, as though invisible giant hands had seized them by the throat.
[Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan]!
At some point, Kamizuki Yu's eyes had transformed into gorgeous yet sinister patterns. Complex markings slowly revolved within them, radiating a heart-palpitating power.
This power was far stronger than that of any Uchiha clansman they knew. It was even... more terrifying than the Mangekyo Sharingan they had imagined!
"This is..." Shisui spoke with difficulty. Before those eyes, his own Mangekyo Sharingan was like a firefly before the moon.
Itachi's body tensed. For the first time, he felt such pure and powerful ocular pressure.
A faint curve touched Kamizuki Yu's lips. This was not a display of pride, but more like a... statement.
"Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan," he calmly stated.
But he was not finished.
With one hand, he slapped the ground.
[Wood Release: Tree Binding Burial]!
Several massive trees burst from the earth, winding and intertwining like giant serpents. In an instant, they formed a small forest a short distance away, radiating vigorous life force and destructive power.
That pure Wood Release chakra could not be faked!
The power of Hashirama Senju!
Itachi and Shisui were completely stunned by the sight before them.
The Sharingan and Wood Release—these two legendary powers—had actually appeared in the same person!
And that person was so young!
Kamizuki Yu withdrew his Wood Release, and the Mangekyo in his eyes returned to normal.
The training ground returned to calm, but stormy waves had already risen in Itachi and Shisui's hearts.
So this advisor had not been speaking empty words. He possessed power capable of overturning everything.
"Do you still think I'm being alarmist?" Kamizuki Yu asked casually, as though he had merely shown off two minor tricks.
Sure enough, when dealing with these future big shots, I still need to flex first. Otherwise, my words won't carry weight. Better than having them think I'm here to run some pyramid scheme.
Shisui swallowed. The shock in his eyes had yet to fade, but now there was also a burning intensity in them.
In Kamizuki Yu, he saw an entirely different possibility.
Itachi's breathing quickened slightly, but he soon calmed himself. Looking at Kamizuki Yu, he began seriously considering every word the man had said.
This person possessed such strength, yet he had chosen to speak with them instead of simply taking action.
"Advisor... What do you want us to do?" There was an almost imperceptible gravity in Itachi's voice.
Kamizuki Yu gave him an approving look. As expected of the future God of Itachi; this composure was not something ordinary people could match.
"I don't need you to do anything beyond your abilities." Kamizuki Yu folded his arms. "I need the Uchiha Clan to conduct an internal purge first, clearing out those fools who only know how to shout and the radicals blinded by ambition."
"Then, the Uchiha Clan must take the initiative to show the village, and the Fourth Hokage, true sincerity and loyalty—not endless complaints and confrontation."
"As Chief Advisor, I will vouch for the Uchiha Clan. But that requires your cooperation."
He looked at Shisui. "Your Mangekyo is one of the keys. But it is not to be used against the village. It is to protect what you truly wish to protect."
Then he looked at Itachi. "And you—your talent and wisdom will be the most important bridge between the clan and the village. To a great extent, the Uchiha Clan's future rests in the hands of young people like you, people with vision and insight."
The future Kamizuki Yu described sent ripples through both their hearts.
An Uchiha Clan that was no longer viewed with suspicion, one that truly integrated into the Hidden Leaf and protected the village alongside the other clans.
This was what they had always hoped for, especially Shisui.
"Can you... truly accomplish it?" Shisui's voice trembled slightly, with excitement as well as hope for the future.
"I never do things unless I'm certain of success." Kamizuki Yu's tone was indifferent. "But the premise is that the Uchiha Clan is worth my intervention."
"Your clan head has already made his preliminary choice. Now it is your turn."
Thoughtful light flickered in Itachi's eyes.
He thought of the clan's plight, of the innocent clansmen, and of his own longing for peace.
If there truly was a path that could free the Uchiha Clan from the curse of its fate...
Shisui was more direct. He stepped forward and looked solemnly at Kamizuki Yu. "If what you say is true, I, Shisui Uchiha, am willing to cooperate with your plan and work for peace between the clan and the village!"
His eyes were clear and resolute, filled with agreement toward Kamizuki Yu's ideals.
After a moment of silence, Itachi also slowly spoke. "If this is the only chance to change the clan's fate, I... will do everything I can."
His promise was more reserved than Shisui's, but no less weighty.
Kamizuki Yu nodded slightly.
Good. The two key figures had been won over, at least for now.
"Remember, you are the Uchiha Clan's hope and the foundation of the Hidden Leaf's future. Don't disappoint me."
He said nothing more.
Some seeds had already been planted. They needed time to take root and sprout.
The sun rose completely, dispersing the last traces of mist.
Sunlight fell upon the three young men, as though heralding some new beginning.
Itachi and Shisui watched Kamizuki Yu's retreating back in silence for a long time.
Today's conversation had shaken them too deeply.
Yet at the same time, it had cleared away the fog that had long shrouded their hearts and pointed them toward a possible path.
"Itachi, we..." Shisui began.
Itachi nodded lightly. "Let's go back first and discuss it with Father... again."
