Background

Yao Yuzhi first appears in the Misty Forest as a veiled woman in black who is unfamiliar with Black River Town. She had been trapped in the forest for more than ten days and hires Chu He to guide her out, offering several gold ingots after he initially refuses. Her poor sense of direction becomes apparent when she starts down the wrong road immediately after hiring him. 35 36

Her status becomes evident at Black River Town, where a dark-red command token bypasses the gate's identity inspection and causes the guards to receive her with deference. She and Chu He part amicably there, agreeing to meet again. 37

Yao Yuzhi later becomes entangled in the Blackwood Forest and Hong Zhao cavern incidents. During an illusion, she loses her memories and lives as the gentle Yumei before the violet ice crystal between her brows restores her identity. 65
