Background / History

The Ancient Clan is the upper-realm name of the Human Clan. Alongside the Immortal Clan, God Clan, and Saint Clan, it is one of Heaven Beyond Heaven’s four major races. The four clans once fought external enemies for ten thousand years before internal conflict erupted among them; the Ancient Clan paid the heaviest price in that civil war and declined into the weakest of the four. 245 291

Its ancestral land is an inner world created by the Martial Ancestor. Most of this world is decayed and beset by calamity, while Martial God Mountain remains its final flourishing sanctuary, sustained by the mountain’s vitality and ancestral Dao resonance. 354

As the clan weakened, its formerly divided factions were consolidated under the Ancient Heaven Hall. Despite its reduced population and dwindling foundations, it preserved major inheritances, battle formations, and a professional war force built around continual combat. 274 354 356

The Ancient Clan and Immortal Clan jointly hold the Immortal Martial Battle Platform under an old agreement, using it for gladiatorial contests. Their relationship remains openly hostile, with the Immortal Clan increasingly seeking to discard the agreement as the Ancient Clan’s fortunes decline. 287

The Ancient Clan maintains eight elder positions, held by Martial Dao ancient ancestors or equivalent high-level figures. Their duties include guarding the clan, commanding the Primordial Battlefield, administering clan affairs, and preserving themselves through sealed slumber against time’s erosion. 354 363

Ascension and the Immortal Martial Arena

The Ancient Clan’s weak position is apparent when fewer than a hundred Seventh Realm ascenders gather on the annual ascension vessel, far fewer than the Immortal Clan’s cultivators. 273 Its prestige improves when Yao Tianxing reaches an arena summit before the Immortal Clan’s Holy Sons and openly provokes them. 279

During the later battle-platform conflict, the Ancient Clan Patriarch appears to stop Immortal Clan great powers from using Creation Heavenly Weapons against Chu He. His intervention forces the enemy’s great powers to flee and creates an escape window for Chu He and the Ancient Clan prodigies. 289

Defense of the Ancestral Land

After Chu He is grievously injured, Hong Tianhai calls him the key to the clan’s survival and orders the elders to spare no expense to save him. The Immortal Clan then invades, demanding the Ancestral Dragon Tree and threatening to destroy Ancient Heaven Hall. 354

Li Fen, Wu Yang, Luo Gui, the Hundred Kings, and the clan’s iron armies resist the invasion across the Ninefold Heavenly Passes. Though outnumbered, their formations and battle-hardened soldiers initially halt and push back the Immortal Clan’s advance. 355 356

Revival Through Chu He

Chu He’s transformation into the early Ninth Realm gives the elders renewed hope that he may become the Ancient Clan’s Ninth Elder and restore its lost strength. 363 He later helps suppress the unstable ancestral vein of the Martial Ancestor Realm and commits himself to defending the clan despite the coming crisis. 370

After extracting the Martial Ancestor’s power, Chu He fortifies the clan with the Great Annihilation Dao Formation and prepares to leave only after securing its defenses. 378 385

Hong Tianhai’s Death and the Final War

Hong Tianhai dies during the wider war, leaving fragments of his true spirit to give the Ancient Clan courage, hope, and faith in its future. The clan mourns him collectively, from its elders and soldiers to its younger generation. 391

Following his breakthrough to true supremacy, Chu He pays respect to the Ancient Clan’s ancestors and ascends to Heaven to avenge Hong Tianhai and settle the war. The clan’s soldiers and elders see him off as their greatest hope. 391
