"Lady Nara, did you need something?"
Having just finished addressing the new recruits, Samwell accepted a cup of wine from his attendant and asked.
Nara tucked the windblown strands of hair behind her ear and asked softly,
"Lord Caesar, I heard House Dayne of Starfall is about to attack Eagle's Beak?"
"Yes." Samwell nodded. "The Wandering Crow Tribe are not my subjects, so if you wish to leave, I will not stop you."
With that, he turned and started walking away.
Time was pressing, and he truly had no mind to spare for the Wandering Crow Tribe. There were not many of them anyway; they could hardly be considered much help.
Yet to his surprise, Nara followed after him and said,
"My lord, you misunderstand. You have always treated the Wandering Crow Tribe well. We will not forget that kindness. If Eagle's Beak is in danger, we will not stand idly by."
Samwell looked at the woman beside him in surprise, and his tone grew solemn.
"Thank you to the Wandering Crow Tribe for extending a hand in this time of crisis. I will remember it."
"It is what we should do. However, the tribe's elderly, weak, women, and children will evacuate with the Orphanage to the villages beyond the valley. I and one hundred eighty-five warriors of the tribe will remain to help you defend the territory."
"Good!" Samwell nodded, only to see that Nara seemed to want to say something but held herself back.
He waited patiently for a while, but Nara ultimately said nothing more. After bowing, she turned and left.
Samwell remained where he was, watching Nara's retreating figure for a moment. He could roughly guess what she had hesitated to say.
But since Nara had ultimately kept silent, Samwell had no intention of pressing her.
