What had happened with Ah Yin changed little. She needed to work through it herself, and Jiang Mu was willing to treat her as a human being.

Jiang Mu sighed in relief. He had thought it was a stranger. He slipped an arm around her slender waist and held her steady so she would not fall.

Her skin felt cool beneath his hand, though it quickly warmed. The sudden touch had simply caught her by surprise.

Tang Wutong called to him breathlessly, pink hearts practically shining in her eyes.
