Background / History

Village Healer and the Tang Brothers

Ah Yin is living near a small village when Jiang Mu arrives in the past, ten thousand years before his own era. She introduces herself as a healer traveling the world. Although recognized as Tang San’s mother and Tang Wutong’s grandmother from the later timeline, she has not yet become Tang San’s mother at this point 132 134.

She has spent several months helping the villagers. When Tang Hao and Tang Xiao pursue a Soul Beast into the settlement, their Clear Sky Hammer attacks destroy houses and kill residents. Ah Yin senses the destruction through Blue Silver Grass, returns, and binds the brothers while demanding an explanation 132 133.

The brothers respond with excuses and flattery. Tang Hao then accuses Jiang Mu of staging the incident to impress her. Ah Yin briefly doubts Jiang Mu, provoking him to insult her and leave. She releases the injured Soul Beast toward the forest before following him to challenge his criticism 133.

When a herd of Soul Beasts approaches, Ah Yin begs Jiang Mu not to kill them. Her hesitation leaves her exposed to an attack that her perception fails to detect. Jiang Mu saves her, then carries her away rather than continue fighting against her wishes. After discovering that he has taken the wrong route, she uses Blue Silver Grass to guide him to Star Luo Imperial City 134 135 136.

Joining Jiang Mu’s Journey

Their first journey ends in an argument: Ah Yin resents being dismissed immediately after helping Jiang Mu, while he treats their arrangement as a completed exchange. She leaves, intending to return to the village and check for injured survivors 137 140.

An Evil Soul Master intercepts her and attempts to take her as his wife. Jiang Mu defeats the attacker with his sniper rifle. Grateful for the rescue, Ah Yin agrees to guide him to the Heaven Dou Empire as repayment. Her scouting allows them to bypass Star Dou Forest and avoid unnecessary danger 140.

After forty-five days, they reach Sunset Forest. Ah Yin questions Jiang Mu’s continued emotional distance, but agrees to help locate a treasure land in exchange for Breath-Concealing Pills. Following his description and her own attraction to the site, she finds the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well 142.

Protecting the Resurrection Ritual

Ah Yin agrees not to interrupt while Jiang Mu reconstructs Tang Wutong’s body. When she senses a wounded, ninety-thousand-year Medusa Snake approaching, she leaves quietly to intercept it. Her Blue Silver Domain and Blue Silver Overlord Spear delay the snake long enough for its pursuer, Dugu Bo, to catch up 143.

Dugu Bo’s attack exposes the hidden well. He subsequently tries to force Ah Yin to guard him during Soul Ring absorption, threatening her with a poison pill. Jiang Mu intervenes and wounds him, securing his cooperation. Ah Yin then monitors Dugu Bo through her domain while Jiang Mu finishes Tang Wutong’s revival 143 144.

The Medicine Garden

Jiang Mu offers Ah Yin two herbs from the well, excluding the Lovesick Heartbreak Red. She selects a blue-glowing flower and proposes remaining at the site to cultivate and preserve its medicinal resources. Jiang Mu invites her to manage the garden with him; she subsequently stays there as its caretaker 145 149 157.

Ah Yin also urges Jiang Mu to help Dugu Bo’s poisoned family. However, his offer of several Hundred Thousand Year Soul Bones alarms her: she assumes he has slaughtered many Soul Beasts to obtain them. Their argument forces her to confront the insecurity of her transformed identity—Soul Beasts would regard her as a traitor, while humans might kill her if they discovered her origin 147.

After Tang Wutong awakens, Ah Yin quarrels with her over her place beside Jiang Mu. Ah Yin offers to marry him in repayment for saving her, but Jiang Mu regards the offer as a joke. Despite their friction, she protects him during his extensive herb consumption by channeling vitality from nearby Blue Silver Grass into his body 148 149 150.

Soul Beast Hunting

Jiang Mu later asks Ah Yin to scout targets for four Hundred Thousand Year Soul Rings. Uncomfortable with the proposed hunting, she suggests the younger but exceptionally powerful Dark Demon Evil God Tiger, which preys on other Soul Beasts 157 158.

After Jiang Mu reassures her that a protective array will secure the Medicine Garden, she sets out with him and Tang Wutong toward Star Dou Forest to find the tiger 158.

Appearance

  • Apparent age: About twenty-seven, with a mature face and delicate skin 145.
  • Hair: Long azure-blue hair cascading down her back 132 145.
  • Clothing: A blue-and-white skirt; she initially appears barefoot, stepping on Blue Silver Grass 132.
  • Bearing: Gentle and ethereal, described as fairy-like by the scene of her arrival and noblewoman-like in Jiang Mu’s eyes 132 145.

Personality

Ah Yin is compassionate toward both humans and Soul Beasts. She treats sick villagers, condemns civilian casualties, and urges aid for Dugu Bo’s family despite his earlier threats. She hopes that stronger cultivation will let her travel more widely, punish evil, and save the sick 132 133 147 157.

Her kindness is accompanied by considerable naïveté. She believes most humans are good and views Soul Beast hunting as something driven by necessity. Tang Hao exploits this outlook with claims of heroism and fate. Ah Yin particularly dislikes deception, becoming openly angry when she believes Jiang Mu is lying about his Soul Bones 133 143 147.

She is sensitive to dismissive treatment, but also stubborn. Jiang Mu’s insults hurt her, and she repeatedly challenges his refusal to explain himself or acknowledge their growing familiarity. Despite her mature appearance, she becomes embarrassed by open intimacy and is deeply moved by the romantic story of the Lovesick Heartbreak Red 136 142 148 149.

Her transformed identity creates a persistent moral conflict. She sympathizes with Soul Beasts even when they threaten her, yet gradually recognizes the need to protect herself as a human. Suggesting the predatory Dark Demon Evil God Tiger gives her a way to assist Jiang Mu without simply accepting his original hunting plan 134 147 158.
