Arc 16The Portal to Isata
Charles defeated Kurto Shatterskull’s forces, expanded his rule, and secured the Crimson Caravan Alliance’s support while preparing to reach other worlds. As turmoil gathered across the Land of Chaos, he opened a portal to the Wizard World and prepared to enter it alone.
- Charles captured Lich Fang’s stronghold, recruited Orc prisoners with promises of land and wives, and used their families as leverage against Kurto Shatterskull.
- Kurto returned to the Scorched-Earth Warcry Tribe’s territory, where raids and the Sons of the Broken Blade’s withdrawal left him facing a weakened, impoverished position.
- Charles took control of three cities, fifteen towns, and seventeen settlements, appointed wounded soldiers as officials, and began expanding his army and weapons workshops.
- Ross visited Charles, warned him that Kurto could gain support from the Shatterskull Clan, and negotiated a loan and supplies to support Charles’s ambitions.
- The Book of Causal Paths showed Charles possible futures involving Ross and warned that the Moonshadow Queen’s death could spark conflict between elves and half-elves.
- Ross secured the merchants’ backing for Charles, and shipments of magical materials and equipment began arriving in Charles’s territory.
- Charles began building an interplanar portal and an Anti-God Surveillance Rune Array as Kurto sought reinforcements and merchants increased their support for Charles.
- Charles, Molly, and Erika completed the portal, and Charles activated it to connect Osela with the Wizard World before deciding to enter it alone.
