Bael calculated in secret. Though he did not know what Huo Ling was plotting,
he ultimately decided to test Huo Ling's mettle.
Bael swung the serrated greatsword in his hand, its sharp blade pointed straight at Huo Ling. Bael said,
"Huo Ling, I raised you with my own hand, recommended you as the Duke of Avernus, made you commander of the Bronze Citadel, and even promoted you to Dark General!"
"And yet you slander me, even seeking to rebel against me!"
"I am deeply disappointed. This time, I will personally put a complete end to your traitorous defiance!"
"Come fight!"
Bael roared and charged fiercely toward Huo Ling.
He was clever. He did not say that he accepted Huo Ling's request for a duel, but neither did he show any intention of launching an all-out war.
"Hahahaha!"
Huo Ling laughed loudly. "It seems that after several hundred years of indulgence in the heart of the Bronze Citadel, you have not completely lost your courage!"
"This time, let me be the one to end you!"
Huo Ling roared, suddenly releasing his formidable aura. A soul-shaking presence spread out from his body.
He gripped his wand in one hand, channeling power into it as he began casting.
At the same time, the magical equipment on his body was fully activated. Arrays of metamagic spells appeared around Huo Ling.
Layers upon layers of defensive shields emerged outside Huo Ling's body.
Dazzling divine light had begun to shine from Huo Ling's eyes as he aimed his wand at the charging Bael.

A flash of dazzling divine light shot straight from Huo Ling's hand at Bael. Bael roared, black hellfire erupting all over his body.
Then he spat out a torrent of blazing hellfire, which collided with Huo Ling's spell.
