Nustien continued, "As for why Jergal went to the Eye of the Void, and why he died there, I do not know the exact reason."
"My strength was limited at the time, so I had no way of learning such secret intelligence."
"The reason I guessed that your Death World Trees might be able to give birth to elves because of Jergal is that he once created a race capable of reproduction."
"What was it?" Huo Ling pressed, though he already had a guess in his heart.
Nustien smiled. "Not the vampires you're thinking of!"
Huo Ling gave an embarrassed smile after his thoughts were exposed. He really had guessed vampires.
Looking at it that way, vampires did seem somewhat similar, since they could use Vampiric Embrace to create descendants and servants.
Huo Ling had some vampires under his command as well, though not many. This kind of death unit was not as powerful as the Death Guard, vanguards, and warlords Nustien provided.
Nor were they as useful as Dread Knights and Dark Warriors in low- and mid-tier warfare.
They did have some use as scouts and such.
Nustien said, "Of course, vampires are not entirely unrelated to Jergal. The powerful beings who later created vampires did so based on Jergal's creation."
Huo Ling felt that he was drawing ever closer to the answer. He asked, "So Jergal once created a new death race, one capable of reproduction?"
Nustien nodded. "That's right. Jergal once created a new race known as the Death Envoys!"
"They were a superior race. Jergal likely created them to help manage his divine kingdom. You can think of them as a type of celestial race."
Huo Ling asked in confusion, "But why does this race no longer exist?"
Nustien gave Huo Ling a deep look and
