The Dusk God's descended vessel stood below. Before this, the vessel might have been a Sanctuary-level cleric.
Only because of that could this body contain the Dusk God's descent.
Yet in order to descend for a longer time, the Dusk God had sent down only a small portion of Its consciousness, without even bringing divine power.
Thus, this descended vessel was almost entirely powerless.
"I am willing to acknowledge you as my master! I only ask that you preserve some of my believers," the Dusk God said slowly.
Huo Ling shook his head. "You should know that I am not a god. I cannot establish a divine pantheon, nor can I become your chief god. How, then, am I supposed to believe that you can acknowledge me as your master?"
After ascending to godhood, gods could no longer be bound by simple master-servant contracts. They were beings tied to their planes.
To enslave or control a god, one could only do so on the level of laws, making the god offer up a portion of Its own divine spark and thereby become that god's chief god.
