Background

Bian Yixia was raised by Deng Guangxin, leader of the Black Flood Dragon Gang, as his adoptive daughter and eldest disciple. She cultivated the Six Harmonies Wheel-Turning Art alongside Deng's other disciples, unaware that each disciple had been selected for a distinct constitution corresponding to one of the art's six attributes. Bian Yixia herself corresponded to fire. 66 132

The technique's flaws long prevented her from advancing. During Song Sixing's rebellion, she discovered that the disciples' complementary inner qi could repair those flaws; she absorbed Song Sixing's inner qi but refused to complete the art by preying on all of her sworn siblings. 127

Deng's scheme was ultimately exposed: he had prepared the disciples as components for the completed Six Harmonies Wheel-Turning Art, intending to absorb them himself. After Zou Feng disrupted Deng's plan, Bian Yixia absorbed Deng Guangxin's inner qi instead, inheriting the benefits of his years of preparation and opening her path toward the high ranks. 131 132 184

Appearance

Bian Yixia is a petite, baby-faced woman whose youthful appearance sharply contrasts with her martial bearing and extreme physical strength. She wears her hair in two bun-shaped pigtails and is usually seen carrying enormous round hammers. 66

  • Slightly chubby, bun-like baby face. 66
  • Compact, muscular build from years of body-tempering and relentless training. 83 100
  • Typically wears simple martial outfits; six of the seven outfits in her room are identical. 120
  • Carries a pair of oversized round hammers on her back. 66

Personality

Bian Yixia is straightforward, forthright, and deeply loyal to the Black Flood Dragon Gang. Gang members regard her as a beloved leader because she values brotherhood, looks after injured subordinates, and consistently fights on the front lines. 79 125

She is a martial arts fanatic whose life is organized almost entirely around training. Even after suppression operations, she immediately returns to practice; her sparse room contains virtually nothing beyond basic furniture, martial clothes, and necessities. 82 120

Her devotion to martial cultivation does not make her cruel without restraint. Though she recognizes that absorbing her sworn siblings could perfect her technique, she refuses to sacrifice those who have not violated gang rules. She also rejects becoming dependent on Zou Feng's Wisdom Triple Strike, choosing to walk her own path. 127 191

Abilities & Skills

Six Harmonies Wheel-Turning Art

Bian Yixia's primary martial art generates rotating wheels of inner qi or astral energy and can absorb compatible inner qi from practitioners of the same art.

  • Initially contained deliberate flaws that prevented her from reaching the Gang Qi Realm. 93 120
  • Absorbed Song Sixing's inner qi to repair much of the art's deficiency and achieve her breakthrough. 127
  • Later absorbed Deng Guangxin's inner qi, securing the foundation he had cultivated through his scheme. 132 134
  • At fifth rank, manifests three spinning astral-energy wheels capable of producing fierce winds and enhancing her attacks. 227
  • Perfect completion would require absorbing all six compatible disciples, a method she refuses to use against innocent sworn siblings. 127

Twin-Hammer Combat

Bian Yixia specializes in brutally direct, overwhelmingly forceful hammer techniques.

  • Her twin round hammers can reduce opponents to “meat patties”; even an eighth-rank cultist empowered by an invited god lasted only several exchanges. 79
  • Her unadorned hammer strikes neutralized Song Sixing's more elaborate iron-fan techniques. 126
  • She continues fighting through exhaustion and abnormal weakness, using openings decisively in life-and-death combat. 125

Body Tempering and Protective Qi

Her physical conditioning is exceptional even without internal energy.

  • Charged through sturdy shack walls headfirst to intercept fleeing Ten Directions Cult remnants. 79
  • Possesses raw physical strength compared to that of an elephant. 83
  • Her bare-handed attacks retain the force and mechanics of her hammer techniques, making her an ideal sparring partner for Zou Feng's Calamity Ember Undying Body. 83

Profound Bright Lihuo Formula

After entering the Eastern Lands Immortal Realm, Bian Yixia chose the fire-element Profound Bright Lihuo Formula as an additional Dao art.

  • Achieved initial results with the formula during her Spiritual Energy Realm breakthrough. 335
  • Her fire-aligned cultivation is consistent with the fire attribute that made her suitable for the Six Harmonies Wheel-Turning Art. 132 335

Cooperative Technique with Zou Feng

Bian Yixia and Zou Feng can combine their astral energies in battle.

  • Helped force the restriction placed inside her body out as a compressed shockwave. 185 186
  • The resulting attack incorporated her astral qi, Zou Feng's astral qi, and the restriction's released force, approaching the power of a True Qi Realm attack. 186

Equipment

  • Twin round hammers — Her signature weapons, carried on her back and used with ferocious, high-impact hammer techniques. 66 79

Relationships

  • Zou Feng — Longtime sparring partner, trusted ally, and later romantic partner/Dao companion. He repeatedly supports her in gang conflicts, rescues her from captivity, and brings her to the Eastern Lands Immortal Realm. 83 184 205 325 335
  • Deng Guangxin — Adoptive father and former gang leader. He raised her but secretly cultivated the Six Harmonies Wheel-Turning Art around sacrificing his disciples; Bian Yixia ultimately inherits his accumulated inner qi after his defeat. 66 127 132
  • Tian Yun — Fellow Dao companion of Zou Feng and Bian Yixia's close associate. They cultivate the Dragon-Tiger Kan-Li Technique together and jointly leave for the Eastern Lands Immortal Realm. 205 227 324 325
  • Xiang Kang — Vice Gang Leader whom she calls “Uncle Xiang.” She respects him and entrusts Zou Feng with treating his injuries. 76 120
  • Song Sixing — Her sworn sixth younger brother. His rebellion gives Bian Yixia the opportunity to discover the absorption principle behind their shared cultivation art. 126 127
  • Wang Xingjian — Former Black Flood Dragon Gang brother who helps establish the Hongxing Dynasty and succeeds her as emperor after her abdication. 324 325
  • Sun Kai — Leader of the Mountains and Rivers Society. Bian Yixia defeats and kills him in their life-and-death duel. 117 125

Story Role / Major Arcs

Black Flood Dragon Gang Young Miss

Bian Yixia first appears as the Black Flood Dragon Gang's seventh-rank Young Miss and Deng Guangxin's eldest disciple. She leads suppression operations against the Ten Directions Cult, personally crushes cult remnants, and shows concern for Zou Feng after he is wounded. 66 76 79

Sparring and Nurturing Zou Feng

Intrigued by Zou Feng's Calamity Ember Undying Body, she becomes his regular sparring partner. Succession Crisis and the Six Harmonies Secret

Bian Yixia defeats Sun Kai despite being weakened during their duel, then confronts Song Sixing during his coup aboard the Dragon Gate Pleasure Boat. By absorbing Song's inner qi, she discovers the real function of the flawed Six Harmonies Wheel-Turning Art and breaks through to the Gang Qi Realm. 125 127

She subsequently learns Deng Guangxin intended to use all six disciples to complete the art for himself. Rather than flee, she chooses to confront him; after his scheme collapses, she gains the cultivation foundation he had sought to seize. 130 134

Captivity and Rescue

Bian Yixia is captured by Yuwen Boxi's side and exchanged for Yuwen Zheng. Zou Feng detects a dangerous restriction within her body, suppresses it, and later combines his power with hers to turn the expelled restriction into an attack against Kang Shixiang. 183 186

Founding Empress of Hongxing

During the decade Zou Feng spends away from Great Yan, Bian Yixia and Tian Yun lead Hongxing's military campaigns. Hongxing unifies the Southern Border, absorbs the remnants of Azure Nether Palace, establishes the Hongxing Dynasty, and crowns Bian Yixia its founding Empress. 320

Her rule later faces a rebellion led by four provincial governors, ostensibly aimed at purging Tian Yun from the court. 321

Reunion and Departure

When Zou Feng returns, an external incarnation of Lu Guanghua impersonates Bian Yixia in the Golden Hall while the real Bian Yixia is severely wounded and sealed behind a formation barrier. Zou Feng saves her through divine consciousness communion using the Dragon-Tiger Kan-Li Technique. 322 324

Afterward, Bian Yixia abdicates in favor of Wang Xingjian and leaves the Hongxing Dynasty with Zou Feng and Tian Yun for the Eastern Lands Immortal Realm. 324 325
