Background / History

Born near the end of the Warring States Period, Hiruzen was a member of the Sarutobi Clan, one of the clans that joined Konoha shortly after its founding. As a child, he admired Hashirama Senju and aspired to become Hokage himself. 9

In his youth, Hiruzen became Tobirama Senju’s disciple, a step that ultimately led to his own appointment as Hokage. By the time Rogge enters the Ninja Academy, Hiruzen has held the office of Third Hokage for thirty-one years. 4 9
