The origins of Thousand-Mile Eye and Wind-Following Ear were actually rather interesting.

They had originally been a pair of Human Race brothers. After dying, they encountered two wisps of Heaven and Earth metal essence and water essence, transformed into Demon Immortals, and joined Jie Teaching.

Thousand-Mile Eye was named Gao Ming, and Wind-Following Ear was named Gao Jue. They were Jie Teaching immortals who entered the Investiture of the Gods Platform during the early stages of the Great Cataclysm of the Investiture of the Gods.

The brothers themselves possessed no great abilities, but they were clever and quick-witted, with investigative divine abilities that were "half-inborn." Their appearances were also rather freely improvised, yet quite imposing.
