The gladiators had all entered the arena, and the announcer began to introduce the other main character of the match.
"What kind of monster will our elite gladiators be facing? Rumor has it that this monster has ten times the strength of a human and can recover from any injury…"
As the announcer spoke, many in the audience had already guessed it was a Troll, as the Gladiatorial Arena had featured Trolls before.
The announcer didn't drag it out, shouting "Forest Troll!" Then, an iron gate on the arena stage opened, and a colossal creature charged out.
The Forest Troll roared to the sky, its massive body rippling with muscle, its eyes bloodshot. After being injected with a special potion, the Troll had completely lost its mind. It spotted the dozen or so gladiators on the other side of the arena and charged at them, howling.
In the VIP box, the nobles were all discussing the match.
"Cleon himself is fighting, so it looks like beating the Troll won't be a problem!"
"Not necessarily. They don't have fire weapons, so they can't suppress the Troll's regeneration. This Troll looks quite a bit stronger than typical Trolls. Below, besides Cleon, none of those gladiators can fight!"
A Bearded Noble spoke up to retort: "No, there's one who's just as strong. See the one with the greatsword? That guy's quite capable!" The Bearded Noble was the same one who had previously tasked The Bald Man with executing the rapist.
"Oh, then this hunt will be exciting!"
"One, two, three, throw!" The Bald Man directed the gladiators to throw their javelins, throwing one himself. Harrot, on the other hand, watched helplessly by himself.
His javelin-throwing skills were terrible. The Bald Man was afraid Harrot might accidentally throw a javelin into the audience, and with Harrot's strength, he really could throw it that far, so he simply didn't let Harrot carry a javelin.
The Troll was charging straight at them. Moving at high speed, it had no chance to dodge and was immediately struck by seven or eight javelins, letting out a painful shriek.
The gladiators' aim was good, with half the javelins hitting the Troll.
Especially The Bald Man's shot, which directly blinded one of the Troll's eyes, burying half a javelin into its head.
If it were any other creature, the match would basically be over, but the Troll's vitality was terrifyingly strong.
The Troll rudely shook off the javelins stuck in its body, pulled out the javelin in its head, broke it in half, and threw it towards the gladiators. Its throwing technique was worse than Harrot's, with very poor aim.
However, because the dozen or so of them were huddled together, forming too large a target, one unlucky soul was still hit by a half-javelin. Half of that guy's shoulder was directly shattered, essentially rendering him combat ineffective.
This was a Troll with ten times the strength of a human. Anything it casually threw could easily severely injure a highly skilled senior gladiator.
The Bald Man, before the Troll could get close, organized another volley. Although the Troll's intelligence wasn't high, it instinctively protected its head with its hands.
The javelins' power had little effect on other parts of its body outside its head. Its thick skin and strong muscles easily fended off the gladiators' shots.
Even the wounds caused by the javelins earlier were slowly beginning to heal. At this point, the Troll was only ten meters away from the gladiators.
The Troll took a deep breath, its mouth wide open. The Bald Man quickly signaled everyone to be careful. Immediately after, an astonishing roar swept towards the gladiators.
Except for The Bald Man and Harrot, the other gladiators were all affected. The less affected ones were like stones, just a bit dizzy with ringing ears. The more severely affected ones spat out blood and couldn't even stand steadily.
This was one of the Troll's extraordinary abilities, a roar wave impact that affected all creatures within a ten-meter radius. The higher the constitution, the less the impact.
Although this ability was not as powerful as a magic beast's magic, it still posed a great threat to the gladiators. Yesterday, The Bald Man had specifically warned those with poor constitution to be extra careful.
The Troll could only use this ability once a day, so using it now was good news; they wouldn't have to worry about this guy suddenly letting out a bellow during the fight later.
After releasing the roar wave, the Troll charged at full speed towards the immobilized and stunned gladiators.
If only senior gladiators were fighting the Troll, they might have been wiped out, but luckily, Harrot and The Bald Man were unaffected by the roar wave.
The Bald Man took the initiative, rushing forward to dodge the Troll's large hand, and chopped an axe into the Troll's thigh.
Harrot followed closely, fiercely slashing at the Troll's arm to cover The Bald Man.
Harrot and The Bald Man were both incredibly strong men. One had the [Power Strike] and [Heavy Strike] skills to increase attack power, and the other used a brutal double-bladed great axe.
The Troll's charge was actually interrupted, forcing it to stop and deal with the two small figures in front of it.
Although the Troll was massive, its speed was not slow. Harrot narrowly avoided being hit by the Troll's fists several times, so he had to retreat to the side, only attacking when he found an opening. Only The Bald Man, relying on his well-honed skills and movements, continuously toyed with the Troll.
The Troll threw punches several times, only hitting the ground, its terrifying strength creating several craters, yet The Bald Man remained completely unharmed.
At this point, the gladiators had also recovered from the roar wave's effects and scattered, swinging their halberds to attack the Troll.
The Bald Man took the opportunity to retreat and rest. While swinging a 60-jin great axe to attack the Troll, he also had to constantly pay attention to the Troll's attacks, dodging and repositioning flexibly. This expended a great deal of his stamina and energy, and he was starting to struggle after just a dozen seconds.
The gladiators all remembered The Bald Man's instructions from yesterday: harass primarily, and prioritize safety.
The Troll's right leg was already incapacitated due to the special attention from The Bald Man and Harrot. Although it would soon heal with time, its agility was severely impaired in the short term.
Halberds were highly lethal but very cumbersome. Moreover, for the gladiators to inflict effective damage on the Troll, they had to exert all their strength, which consumed a lot of stamina.
At this point, though scarred, the Troll was still very energetic. It seized an opportunity, grabbed an incoming halberd, and gave a fierce pull. Caught off guard, one gladiator was dragged over.
In a panic, The Bald Man quickly grabbed his axe and attacked, wanting to save the gladiator. However, the Troll had been wary of The Bald Man all along; among these people, The Bald Man was the most threatening.
The Troll abruptly spun, swinging its right arm and sending The Bald Man, man and axe, flying. Although The Bald Man's axe also heavily struck the Troll's arm, almost severing half of it, when humans and Trolls traded blows, it was obvious who lost and who gained.
The Troll had used all its strength in this attack. The Bald Man flew over ten meters before landing, lying motionless on the ground, seemingly unable to get up.
The attack The Bald Man received was similar in power to the one Harrot experienced when he first transmigrated. Unfortunately, The Bald Man had no System. Even though his physique was much stronger than Harrot's, his chances were dire.
"Boss Bald Man!" The gladiators were all shocked. The Bald Man, seemingly invincible in their eyes, had fallen just like that.
And the Troll before them, though missing an arm and a leg, still had ample combat strength.
The gladiator The Bald Man had tried his best to save was also smashed into a pulp by the Troll's punch. Then, the Troll lunged forward again, knocking away two gladiators who were too slow to dodge.
"How do we even defeat this monster?!"
"The Bald Man, our leader, is down. Can we still win?"
In an instant, The Bald Man, their main fighter, was sent flying, and three of their companions were knocked out. The gladiators' morale plummeted; despair washed over them, while the Forest Troll laughed cruelly.
Harrot knew he had to step up now. Even though he was just as terrified of the monster before him, he had to rally their morale, or they would truly be wiped out.
Once Dragon Slaying Sword Qi was used, he would be out of combat. And targeting the Forest Troll, that move wouldn't instantly kill it.
Harrot could only swing his greatsword, using Dragon Slaying Sword Art to attack the Forest Troll at close range. The Forest Troll was busy chasing a fleeing gladiator and didn't notice Harrot.
"Hmph! Die!" Harrot shouted, striking the Forest Troll's already half-crippled right leg. With a crack, the thigh, as thick as a person's waist, was severed and flew off.
With the bonuses from his skills and proficiency, Harrot's attack power was equivalent to 40, which was six or seven times that of an ordinary person. Even The Bald Man's destructive power was far inferior to Harrot's.
The Forest Troll, having lost a leg, couldn't maintain its balance and toppled to the ground.
Harrot shouted loudly, "Attack together! Don't let it get up!" It was only because the Forest Troll had been careless that he'd had the chance to land a full-power strike. Normally, he wouldn't have had the skill to dodge the Forest Troll's attacks and swing his sword.
After enduring countless attacks, the Forest Troll was in very poor condition. After falling to the ground, being swarmed by everyone, it truly struggled to get back up. The gladiators, too, went mad. If they couldn't kill the Forest Troll, none of them would survive, so they threw themselves into a desperate assault.
The Forest Troll endured several rounds of attacks, howling in pain. Bones and internal organs were faintly visible in the frequently attacked areas. Harrot's attacks were particularly vicious; he even severed the Forest Troll's half-severed arm.
The Forest Troll struggled desperately, grabbing a gladiator who was exhausted and slow to react, and swung the gladiator around like a weapon.
After forcing his enemies back, the Forest Troll stood up on one leg, brutally tore the gladiator in his hand in half, and roared.
At this point, both sides were utterly exhausted. The gladiators were so tired they could barely stand; swinging their two-meter-long halberds was incredibly tiring.
Harrot and The Bald Man, with their System-enhanced, semi-datafied bodies and Orc bloodline, were fine. But these ordinary humans would be completely drained after swinging a few times at full strength.
The Forest Troll was even more terrifyingly miserable, having lost a leg and an arm. Its entire body was covered in deep, bone-deep wounds, and nearly half of its flesh had been torn away.
Harrot was momentarily awestruck by the monster, but then he remembered that it was still regenerating. He shook himself and shouted, "Throw javelins! Cover me!"
The gladiators had brought a total of three javelins, and only the last one remained. Following Harrot's command, they hurled the javelin at the Forest Troll.
With only one leg, the Forest Troll couldn't easily dodge. At close range, it was hit by all dozen javelins. Unfortunately, most of the gladiators had little strength left, so the javelins' damage was limited.
Harrot quickly charged forward while the Forest Troll covered its head. By the time the Forest Troll moved its hand, Harrot was already in front of it.
Dragon Slaying Sword Art, Seventh Form: Decapitation Strike!
Harrot leaped high, twisted his body 90 degrees, then quickly righted himself in mid-air, swinging his greatsword with all his might, hitting the Forest Troll directly in the neck.
With a squelch, the Forest Troll's head flew off.
The Forest Troll, with its astonishing vitality, continued to move even after its head was severed. The flesh around its neck writhed, and a new head slowly began to regenerate.
If no one had interfered, perhaps the Forest Troll truly could have revived. But the gladiators weren't fools; they furiously attacked the headless Forest Troll.
Even the most tenacious vitality has its limits. After stubbornly holding on for a few minutes, the Forest Troll's body finally lost all life, no longer rapidly regenerating and healing.
Forest Troll extermination, complete!
