Ogres are much weaker than Forest Trolls. Their strength and size are only about 80% of a Troll's, they're slow to react, and they lack the Troll's incredible regenerative abilities.
However, an Ogre is still a monster far beyond human limits, and its physical attributes easily overpower Harrot.
More importantly, the weapon Harrot currently holds can barely pierce an Ogre's hide.
Ogre skin is thick and tough; leather armor made from it is no less defensive than typical chainmail.
The greatsword Harrot is using now isn't the one he used yesterday against the Troll, but rather a worn-out standard-issue greatsword from the Gladiatorial Arena.
Even Dragon Slaying Sword Qi probably can't instantly kill such a huge beast! Harrot thought, despairing.
Now he was alone, with no The Bald Man to take the lead for him, and no other gladiators to provide cover or support.
Facing the massive monster by himself, Harrot realized he wasn't as strong as he imagined.
Heh, last night I was still agonizing over whether to become Count Sarik's subordinate, whether to give up my dreams for a mundane life. Now it seems my path has reached its end!
Just as Harrot despaired, a miracle occurred. Count Sarik's brother, Marcus, walked to the very front of the VIP section and threw a greatsword from his back towards Harrot in the arena.
Marcus, like Sarik and Harlaus, had fiery red hair and a handsome face. Marcus shouted to Harrot, "Use my sword, warrior! This sword is my reward for your excellent performance yesterday!"
Marcus's throw was precise; the greatsword plunged straight into the ground about a meter in front of Harrot. Harrot looked up at Marcus, whose eyes were filled with anticipation.
Harrot's mouth opened wide, wanting to say something but he held back. Whether it's thanks or praise, it can wait until after the gladiatorial combat!
Harrot's fighting spirit reignited, completely dispelling the despair in his heart. He took a deep breath and picked up the greatsword stuck in the ground.
The greatsword was substantial and felt good in his hands. It must have been mixed with some rare metals. Although Harrot was an amateur who knew nothing about forging, he could still tell that this greatsword was extraordinary.
The Ogre had already charged over, roaring. Harrot no longer felt any fear. He bravely hoisted the greatsword and launched a charge at the Ogre.
The audience was shocked by Harrot's brave performance, exclaiming aloud. A smile also appeared on Marcus's lips as he stood at the very front of the VIP section, watching the match!
Closer, ever closer. Just as Harrot was about to collide with the Ogre, the Ogre raised the wooden club in its hand high and swung it down at Harrot.
Harrot focused intensely on the Ogre's attack, then suddenly leaned back and performed a sliding tackle, passing between the Ogre's legs.
"Thud!" The Ogre's wooden club missed, smashing heavily into the ground.
While dodging the Ogre's attack, Harrot also delivered a fierce sword strike to the Ogre's crotch.
"Oooohhh!" The Ogre let out a painful wail. His vital area had been critically struck by Harrot. Such pain was unimaginable!
The Ogre's forward momentum was immediately broken. It stumbled forward and fell to the ground, rolling around to vent its agony.
Harrot, thanks to his "+30 Defense," was immune to the scratches caused by the sliding tackle on the ground.
His health remained full. Harrot shouted loudly, full of fighting spirit, completely overwhelming the Ogre screaming on the ground.
"I can win. The Ogre is slow to react, has no regenerative ability, my speed is faster than his, and my weapon is sharp enough. I can defeat it!"
Harrot was incredibly excited inside. His Lv3 movement speed and 11 agility, though not very high, were sufficient against the Ogre!
The Ogre got up, its eyes bloodshot, glaring fiercely at Harrot. It didn't full-on sprint this time, but rather dragged its wooden club, walking step by step towards Harrot.
Harrot's agility could certainly outrun the Ogre, but he had no long-range attacks. After using Dragon Slaying Sword Qi, he would be exhausted and collapse, so it could only be used as a finishing move. If he didn't get close, he couldn't hurt the Ogre. So, he chose not to retreat, but to take the initiative.
The Ogre stopped, delivering a heavy blow to the approaching Harrot. The heavy wooden club, wielded with its immense strength, could instantly kill Harrot.
The Ogre's attack was completely seen through by Harrot. The moment the club swung down, he quickly rolled to the side, dodging the club.
"Thud!" Another loud thud. The club's impact point was only a dozen centimeters from Harrot, and the terrifying force sent a chill down Harrot's spine.
If that wooden club hits me just once, I'm dead!
Harrot seized the moment when the Ogre was recovering and resetting, swinging his sword with one hand, then rolling again to dodge the Ogre's kick.
This precious sword was quite sharp. Harrot had to attack with only one hand to rapidly roll and dodge, yet even so, it could still cut through the Ogre's skin.
This was the first time Harrot had used agility in combat instead of relying on brute strength. This was largely thanks to the precious sword Marcus gave him; otherwise, he could hack at the Ogre with that worn-out sword until nightfall and still not kill it.
Using the same tactics, Harrot continuously attacked and dodged, attacked. The Ogre couldn't land a single hit on Harrot, only smashing its wooden club into the ground again and again in impotent rage.
Scarface in the VIP section was dumbfounded. He never imagined that Harrot, a man of immense strength, could possess such agile movements.
The Bald Man was also incredibly excited, cheering for Harrot.
"That's it! Ogres aren't Trolls. The accumulation of small damages will wear him down eventually!"
Harrot had a semi-datafied, monstrous physique, with immense stamina. He could sustain ordinary rolls and dodges for a long time. He was confident he could outlast the Ogre.
Everything seemed to be going well, but as Harrot once again evaded the Ogre's attack and prepared to close in, a sudden shock went through him. His instincts warned him of danger.
Harrot had no time to think, instinctively taking a step back, narrowly dodging the Ogre's grapple!
Harrot retreated several steps in horror, breathing heavily as he looked at the Ogre's ferocious face. The Ogre's mouth was open, its tongue sticking out, as if mocking Harrot. It knew how to deal with this erratic guy now.
Cold sweat broke out on Harrot. The Ogre had genuinely almost caught him just now. The Ogre's movements were clearly premeditated!
He must have seen through my movements long ago, pretending to be angry while waiting for an opportunity to deliver a fatal blow.
Damn it, why are even Ogres so smart, so insidious? I almost screwed up!
What would happen if the Ogre caught him? Harrot couldn't help but tremble at the thought. It seemed he couldn't use that monotonous hit-and-run tactic anymore.
This gladiatorial combat was very similar to Harrot's previous fight with the rapist Rodri, except this time Harrot was the one fighting agilely.
Although Harrot had ample stamina for a prolonged battle, there was an unavoidable problem.
The Ogre could use various feints and fake attacks to lure Harrot. It could withstand countless attacks from Harrot, but if Harrot made just one misjudgment and got hit, he would be completely finished.
Harrot took a deep breath, suppressing the fear in his heart, and pondered a countermeasure. He had to change his fighting method.
