Background / History
Mia grew up in a Druid village, but devoted most of her effort to mathematics rather than conventional Druid training. After arriving in the city, she earned money by ghostwriting coursework, laboratory reports, and papers; her service later became widely known in Larven. 33 36 47
She first approached Jia Xiu before the Saint Delro Academy practical examination, offering to complete his academic work if he helped her pass. Jia Xiu discovered that her frail appearance concealed extraordinary numerical ability, including Numerical Sensitivity and Calculation Mastery. 33
During the examination in Phantom World, she followed Jia Xiu's strategy by selling her academy-issued coat, buying supplies, and opening “Mia Tax Consulting” to help other examinees reduce the Adventurer Association's commission cuts. 36 37
Her ability to observe spores through Microscopic Vision led Jia Xiu to recognize that she could also perceive and control bacteria. The pair improvised a microscope with glass lenses, beginning their microbiological research. Mia later led the bacteria-observation project co-authored with Jia Xiu and Ram. 47 55
Appearance
Mia is a thin, frail, petite young woman whose small stature initially makes others mistake her for a twelve- or thirteen-year-old child. She is approximately 1.5 meters tall and weighs about eighty pounds. 36 248
- Her wood elf ancestry is extremely diluted; her ears are not visibly pointed. 33
- Her documented attributes emphasize intellect and wisdom over physical ability: Strength 1, Agility 2, Constitution 2, Intelligence 12, Wisdom 17, and Charisma 5. 33
- Her habitual overwork eventually leaves her with greasy hair and dark circles, making her appear older than her great-great-grandmother Gillianis. 440
- While infiltrating Gawad, she used disguise magic to appear as a tall Drow Elf. 215
Personality
Mia is naturally timid, physically weak, and reluctant to challenge people with intimidating titles. Her timidity is tied to her childhood frailty, including being frightened of the large dogs kept by the Spore Society. Nonetheless, she becomes focused and direct when mathematics, research, or a calculation is involved. 299
She speaks especially quickly when explaining a subject she understands, often faster than listeners can follow. In professional settings, she is patient with genuine questions but visibly frustrated when others cannot grasp her reasoning. 96
Money, recognition, and academic influence strongly motivate her. She is extraordinarily frugal and has few material indulgences; she simply enjoys earning money and pursuing the prestige attached to major discoveries. 101 248 252 Her dedication can become extreme: she repeatedly accepts massive calculation workloads, drives project schedules ahead of plan, and works herself into exhaustion. 276 330
Abilities & Skills
Mathematical Calculation
Mia possesses exceptional innate computational ability, supported by the traits Numerical Sensitivity and Calculation Mastery. 33
- Can rapidly solve advanced proof problems and produce several valid methods without preparation. 219
- Understood partial derivatives, numerical discretization, and the limitations of analytical solutions after encountering them for the first time. 265
- Identified errors in the Caster Association's anti-Devil calculation data and helped re-verify the project. 299
- Her calculation speed was considered beyond that of every computational tool available to the Association at the time. 306
- Personally completed the final integrated data processing required for Jia Xiu's Devil Race self-healing spell. 276
Divination and Predictive Analysis
Mia approaches divination as large-scale data collection, feature processing, and model calculation rather than mystical revelation. 169
- Calculated a 98.23% probability that Csejthe Town's commissions were a trap intended to lure low-level adventurers. 172
- Used scene analysis to profile a Gawad murderer in extensive detail, including likely appearance, background, temperament, habits, and magical training. 230 231
- Helped Jia Xiu construct a significantly revised model for predicting storms between planes; its coordinates and timing reached five decimal places of precision. 400 401
- Her calculations can cause severe mental strain and physical overheating when she attempts to force a more precise result. 170
*Microscopic Vision* and Microbial Control
Mia can use Microscopic Vision with magnifying glass lenses to observe spores, cells, and bacteria. 47
- Learns to control a type of spore within hours after observing it. 47
- Can perceive individual bacteria and control them within a maximum range of five meters. 47
- Can observe and manipulate spores, bacteria, and related microorganisms for research or combat applications. 47 114
- Her microbial expertise made her central to the discovery and observation of microscopic bacteria. 55
- Limit: Her direct bacterial-control range is short, making it difficult to employ without support from allies. 47
Spore Druidry and Necromancy
Although affiliated with the Spore Society, Mia's corpse-related techniques led to debate over whether her registered caster affiliation should be classified as Druidic magic or Necromancy. The Arbitration Committee ultimately recorded her under Druidic magic. 96 100
- Has Poison Immunity. 33
- Can cultivate poisonous mushrooms and create several irritation- and infection-based poisons. 47
- Treats corpse control as a basic Spore Druid skill. 96
- Developed Necrotic Flesh Augmentation based on Guidance, using bacteria from a Bugbear's stomach to dramatically increase a corpse's muscle mass. 96
- Her augmentation spell passed examination but was referred for restriction-level classification because of its potentially dangerous applications. 97
Research and Medical Work
Mia is a major contributor to Jia Xiu's laboratory projects, particularly projects involving microorganisms, healing, mathematical models, and magical computation.
- Led the discovery and observation of microscopic bacteria with Jia Xiu and Ram. 55
- Developed applications and monetization plans for Bugbear Growth Bacillus, including supervised testing with Arnold. 101 102
- Contributed mathematical models and derived alternative equations for Devil Race self-healing. 265 298
- Joined both the computation team and Jia Xiu's Magic-Energy Computer project. 345
- Later pioneered microbiological research, made major mathematical contributions, influenced prophecy-spell development, and helped introduce antibiotics. 470
Relationships
- Jia Xiu — Her “Boss,” research partner, and leader of their recurring squad. Mia supplies calculations, prophecy, microbial research, and academic support; Jia Xiu consistently relies on her as an irreplaceable specialist. 33 55 345
- Ram — Teammate and co-author on the bacteria research. Their abilities complement each other in both laboratory work and missions. 33 55 143
- Gillianis — Her great-great-grandmother, an elf Druid and fellow microbial researcher. Mia struggles to make sense of the group's increasingly chaotic forms of address for Gillianis. 110 334 435
- Margaret — Fellow laboratory researcher and Jia Xiu's mentor. Margaret recognizes Mia's insight into difficult magical arrays and later witnesses her mathematical ability surpass ordinary researchers. 248 265
- Arnold — Volunteer subject for Mia's Bugbear growth-hormone experiment. Mia gave detailed safety instructions and monitored his side effects, though Arnold recklessly consumed his full dosage at once. 101 102
