History

Moth to Fire Research

As a senior Moth to Fire researcher, Mobius was among the first to determine that Moros’s abilities did not originate from Collapse Energy. Intrigued by this unknown power source, she considered creating a blood sample capable of imitating it. 19

Mobius later met Moros in person to discuss vampires, liches, and magic. She examined his spellcasting with intense interest, accepted his Spectre Jar for research, and remained noncommittal about formal cooperation. 49 50 Her research subsequently included calculating the theoretical lifespan of low-level vampires and proposing a life form superior to vampires. 59

She presented augmentation surgery designed to strengthen humans without erasing their identity, securing Moth to Fire funding despite political opposition. 61 While researching the Second Herrscher’s corpse, Mobius voiced her ultimate objective: to ascend to godhood through her own efforts. 86

Flame-Chaser Project and Departure

Mobius and Dr. Mei completed the Flame-Chaser Project, producing soldiers with power comparable to Herrschers. When Moth to Fire’s councillors shelved the project out of fear of losing control, Mobius chose to leave the organization rather than accept restrictions on her research. 127

Moros relocated Mobius, Klein, Cangxuan, and Danzhu to a prepared institute in Queensland, Australia. He placed an Undead Legion under Mobius’s authority to protect the facility and ensure her research could continue without interference. 129

Hypermutation and Independent Research

Mobius underwent her own Hypermutation Surgery, temporarily dying during the process before awakening as a Flame-Chaser Warrior. She described the event as a snake being reborn after death. 148

Her later work included creating an artificial creature powered by Collapse Energy rather than Mana. 342 She also deliberately damaged the seal on the Twelfth Herrscher for research, releasing Ling and causing a crisis within her institute. Cangxuan and Danzhu ultimately departed, challenging Mobius’s willingness to bear any cost for scientific progress. 346 347

Klein’s Rebirth

When Klein became an individual of the Thousand-Man Herrscher and attempted to assassinate her, Mobius survived through a magical Spell Shield artifact gifted by Moros. She captured Klein rather than abandoning her and resolved to restore her to humanity. 258

Mobius created a new body tailored to Klein’s memories and abilities, while Moros performed the soul-transfer ritual that science alone could not achieve. Klein successfully awakened in her new body. 259 260

Mobius is a striking green-haired scientist usually seen in a white researcher’s lab coat. Her eyes have a distinctive pink-to-green gradient and serpent-like quality. 49 86 258

Her ambition is explicitly personal: she seeks to “ascend to godhood” by her own hand. 49 86

Her research ethics are pragmatic to the point of recklessness.
