Background / History

Tsunade is the granddaughter of Senju Hashirama and grandniece of the Second Hokage. At age three, she met four-year-old Hagoromo Kaede at the Senju estate during one of Hashirama’s high-level meetings. Even then, she was clever enough to outplay her grandfather at dice and eager to teach Kaede what she knew. 2

After Hashirama’s death, Kaede remained outside Tsunade’s door for three days. Their childhood bond deepened from dice games into a close friendship, and they entered the first Konoha Ninja Academy enrollment together, alongside Jiraiya and Orochimaru. 5

At the Academy, Tsunade declared that she would become an excellent ninja and win the money from every casino in the ninja world. Though initially overwhelmed by a rogue Mist ninja, she later developed into a decisive combatant who could eliminate three enemies alone through precise hand-to-hand attacks. 6 8 23
