Background / History

Dai Mubai is a prince of the Star Luo Empire, born into the Dai royal clan. His engagement to Zhu Zhuqing was arranged from birth through the political bond between the Dai and Zhu families; Zhu Zhuqing was expected to share the Dai princes’ cruel succession fate and had no meaningful choice in the matter. Dai Mubai fled to Suotuo City because he feared death, but conceals this fear behind arrogance and displays of strength. 46 48

Before Tang San’s group registers at Shrek Academy, Dai Mubai spends time at the Rose Hotel with other women despite being engaged to Zhu Zhuqing. Tang San deliberately arranges for Zhu Zhuqing to witness his conduct, leading to a public confrontation and the collapse of their relationship. 36 45 47

Repeated defeats and humiliations intensify Dai Mubai’s resentment toward Tang San, Xiao Wu, Zhu Zhuqing, and others. He outwardly accepts a temporary reconciliation with Tang San’s group, but privately plans revenge and hopes to use Tang San’s amplifying abilities to defeat his elder brother, Dai Weisi, and claim the Star Luo throne. 51 107 108

Dai Mubai is proud, vain, and intensely concerned with status, face, and appearing dominant. He frequently relies on his identity as a Star Luo royal and on the strength of the Evil Eye White Tiger to intimidate others, particularly Zhu Zhuqing and weaker opponents. 46 48 54

He is also impulsive and repeatedly undermines himself by showing off instead of fighting decisively. During his first clash with Xiao Wu, he allows her repeated opportunities to attack because he wants to restore his image before Zhu Zhuqing; this ultimately leads to his defeat. 51

Although he can protect teammates such as Ma Hongjun, Dai Mubai is willing to submit when convinced his life is at risk. His humiliation does not produce lasting remorse: he repeatedly turns humiliation into resentment and dreams of taking revenge once he gains imperial power. 112 154 108
