Background

Tang San was originally a boy from Blue Star and a fan of the Douluo Continent anime. He awakens in the body of Tang San at Notting Academy, immediately recognizes Yu Xiaogang and the original plot, and refuses Yu Xiaogang's offer of discipleship. He registers as a work-study student instead, beginning a deliberate departure from the original story 1.

His Anti-Routine System rewards choices that reject expected plot developments. Early rewards include a God-given Soul Ring, the Saiyan Physique, increased Charm Points, and the storage Soul Tool Three Lifetimes Three Worlds Bright Moon Night 1 2 5. The System later explains that the Tang Sect Tang San who originally occupied this body's fate has been displaced, and that Tang San's role is to help Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue achieve continental unification 15.

Rather than oppose Spirit Hall, Tang San resolves to support Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue. He trains at Notting Academy, develops a close sibling-like bond with Xiao Wu, and seeks out Bibi Dong in Heaven Dou City. His kindness toward her earns her trust and establishes him as her Personal Disciple 6 21 34.

After four additional years of cultivation, Tang San travels with Xiao Wu to Suotuo City and becomes involved with Shrek Academy without initially intending to join it. He repeatedly humiliates Yu Xiaogang's disciple Niu Da Gang, defeats Zhao Wuji's entrance trial through strategy and overwhelming hidden strength, and maintains a hostile relationship with several Shrek students 35 59 63 65.

Tang San is a handsome youth with short black hair, a lean but increasingly muscular physique, and a confident, sometimes severe bearing. During his years after Notting Academy, he is described as roughly Xiao Wu's height, with sun-kissed fair skin and defined abdominal muscles produced by his Saiyan Physique training 35.

His first major decision is to reject the path expected of the original Tang San; throughout the story, he treats foreknowledge of the plot as a tool for reshaping the continent around Spirit Hall rather than following destiny 1 15 22.

He is protective toward those he considers his own, particularly Bibi Dong, Qian Renxue, Xiao Wu, and Gu Yue Na. His stated ambition is to provide Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue with a secure home while helping them unite the continent 21 66 218.

Tang San is also ruthless toward enemies. He uses deception, ambushes, copied Soul Skills, firearms, and overwhelming force without hesitation against Zhao Wuji, Feng Sword Sect disciples, and other opponents 151 167 210. In the Journey to the West side story, however, he also shows patience, compassion, and mediation skills when guiding disciples, assisting Baihua Shame, and persuading Kui Mulang 271 277 278.
