Kagami Uchiha paused. "Hibari, isn't this... a little corrupt?"
"Corrupt? What do you mean, corrupt?" Hibari said without a trace of guilt. "I put my life on the line last night. I was ready to die without even leaving an intact corpse. What's wrong with enjoying a few perks? Haven't I earned them?"
Kagami Uchiha thought it over and decided that made sense. "True. When I started that fire, I figured I'd have to force my way in to help you if you couldn't get out. I wasn't expecting to leave an intact corpse either. We do deserve better benefits."
"Exactly! You can't go wrong listening to me." Hibari grew excited and slapped his thigh. "First, we'll buy a couple of properties here in Kumogakure, then hire someone to open a shop. It'll make money and serve as a covert lookout.
"When the other guys from the village come here on business, it might make things easier for them too. Come on, is this corruption? This is foresight and concern for the bigger picture! It's noble, understand?"
He thumped his chest without so much as blushing.
And so the two "corrupt officials" quickly reached an agreement, then put their heads together and whispered for ages about what to buy tomorrow and where to choose their properties. They really looked as though they planned to settle down here.
After chatting for quite a while, Hibari let out an enormous yawn. "I worked all night... I'd barely lain down before you dragged me out of bed. Now I'm sleepy again. I need to catch up."
He had only just started leaning back when Kagami Uchiha grabbed his arm.
