Background / History

Origin and Rule of the Far North

Snow Empress is an innate spirit formed from the condensation of extreme cold, described as a living manifestation of the Dao rather than a creature of ordinary mortal flesh. She lacks the bloodline shackles of conventional soul beasts and is not suppressed by Di Tian’s dragon might. Within the Far North, their strength is sufficiently close that a direct confrontation would have no clear victor 84.

She rules from the Ice and Snow Heavenly Palace at the icefield’s deepest core. Despite her long isolation from human civilization, she shares an ancient sisterly bond with Ice Empress, the Far North’s second-greatest ruler 84 87 105.

Bargain with Li Changqing

Li Changqing enters her domain before her Heavenly Tribulation begins. He anticipates a possible future in which she fails, rebuilds herself using a hundred-thousand-year Snow Lotus, and is captured by Sun Moon Empire Soul Engineers. He also suspects that an unseen force might interfere with her fate; neither the capture nor that interference has occurred when he reaches her palace 84.

He offers the location of Ten-Thousand-Year Mysterious Ice Marrow in exchange for her protection if she survives, or her soul ring, soul bone, and foundational essence if she dies. His promise to restore her after attaining godhood gives her a further reason to accept the gamble 85 86.

Their agreement develops beyond the initial century of service. Snow Empress later explains that she will remain beside him until his strength surpasses hers, or until he voluntarily releases her from the arrangement; only then does she expect to return to the Far North 109.

Ice Marrow and Heavenly Tribulation

The pair travels to Dragon City, where Snow Empress detects the treasure beneath Earth Dragon Gate. She conceals them in ultimate ice mist to bypass the guards and reach an ancient well leading into the Ten-Thousand-Year Black Ice Cave. The cave contains both Mysterious Ice Marrow and Ice Extreme Divine Crystals, which she uses to strengthen her foundation 88 89.

Back in the Far North, she withstands successive tribulation bolts with her three innate divine skills. The later strikes damage her meridians, destabilize her source, and leave her unable to survive the ninth bolt unaided. Rather than await death, she prepares to expend her entire foundation in a final attack 90.

At Li Changqing’s direction, she combines all three skills for the first time. He then reverses the tribulation’s yin-yang balance, turning its destructive thunder into restorative Life energy while empowering her attack against the tribulation clouds. She completes the breakthrough but collapses from mental exhaustion, and he catches her before she falls 90.

Recovery and Reunion with Ice Empress

Snow Empress awakens in Dragon City, embarrassed by her torn clothing and weakened condition. Li Changqing provides a replacement dress without exploiting her vulnerability. His consideration, together with her successful transformation, begins to soften her formerly distant bearing 92.

She accompanies him to Star Luo City to observe the Continental Advanced Soul Master Elite Tournament and asks whether she can see Ice Empress again. Li Changqing brings Huo Yuhao to her, then uses his Taiji Diagram to draw Ice Empress and Sky Dream Ice Silkworm out of Huo Yuhao’s Spiritual Sea 93 102 104.

Snow Empress recognizes Sky Dream’s involvement in arranging Ice Empress’s sacrifice. During the reunion, she greets Ice Empress warmly and reveals that she has already survived the tribulation and become Li Changqing’s protector 104 105.

Refusal of the God-Making Project

Ice Empress privately urges her to join Huo Yuhao’s God-Making Project, potentially sacrificing her body and origin for a chance at shared immortality. Snow Empress rejects the urgency of this proposal: having survived her tribulation, she expects at least another hundred thousand years of life and sees no reason to surrender her freedom immediately 108 109 110.

She treats the project’s claimed success rates as speculation and considers Li Changqing the stronger candidate for reaching the Divine Realm. His intervention in her tribulation has demonstrated power beyond her understanding, whereas Huo Yuhao’s opportunities do not guarantee his eventual success 110 111.

When the discussion becomes confrontational, she states that neither Ice Empress nor Li Changqing may decide her future. Li Changqing nevertheless threatens lethal retaliation if she secretly sacrifices herself before fulfilling their agreement. Snow Empress assures him that she will honor it and refuses to join Huo Yuhao’s plan 113.

Human Civilization and Shrek Academy

Watching the tournament changes her assessment of humanity. She recognizes that coordinated soul skills and increasingly advanced Soul Tools can compensate for individual weakness. She concludes that her own strength cannot resolve the soul beast race’s survival crisis and that fundamental change is necessary 114 115.

She later warns Li Changqing that Wang Donger carries an unusually elevated sacred aura that appears to influence her choices, especially concerning Soul Tools. Although concerned, she accepts his request not to intervene 124.

Snow Empress agrees to accompany him back to Shrek Academy on the conditions that her identity remain concealed, she not be placed among ordinary human Soul Masters, and she stay beside him. At Shrek City, she also questions his knowledge of the Soul Beast Co-Ruler, but he declines to reveal more because of the danger involved 130 131 132.

Her first meeting with Mu En exposes her strength and soul-beast essence. When he questions the political consequences of her presence, Li Changqing accepts responsibility for bringing her, and she openly affirms her allegiance. Afterward, she remains unwilling to expose the details of her tribulation or the Ice Marrow, which could attract powerful treasure-seekers 143 144 146.

Appearance

  • Human-like form: Appears as a tall, slender woman with snow-white skin and an ethereal, cold beauty, rather than the monstrous beast Huo Yuhao expects 88 103.
  • Eyes: Clear blue, variously described as sky-blue or ice-blue 86 88 103.
  • Hair: Initially described as sky-blue; later appearances describe silver-white hair reaching her waist or falling down her back 88 114 143.
  • Clothing: Usually wears an elegant white gown. At the tournament, she wears a tailored light-blue dress 88 103 114.
  • Aura: Carries an innate nobility associated with ultimate ice. Following her tribulation, her formerly deathly-still bearing gains a trace of warmth and vitality 88 92.

Personality

Snow Empress is proud, aloof, and reluctant to accept restraints or make promises casually. She initially distrusts humans and remains unimpressed by Shrek City’s powerful inhabitants. Her insistence that her future belongs to her reflects a strong attachment to personal independence 106 109 113 131.

Her judgment is pragmatic rather than driven solely by affection. She listens to Ice Empress’s proposal but distinguishes their circumstances and refuses to treat speculative chances of godhood as certainty. Nevertheless, she values her commitments and shows unmistakable tenderness toward her sister 105 109 110.

Around Li Changqing, she develops shyness, teasing humor, and greater emotional openness. His flirtation sometimes provokes cold threats or reactions suggestive of jealousy, but their relationship is not explicitly established as romantic. Her growing trust also has limits: she continues questioning his concealed origins and cannot independently verify the full nature of his divine inheritance 92 125 132 146.

Abilities & Skills

Emperor’s Cold Heaven

Her innate ice domain freezes the surrounding environment and suppresses opposing power 90 143.

  • Forms a vast frozen barrier against tribulation lightning and freezes lightning power across the battlefield 90.
  • Her later presence resembles a self-contained ice-and-snow domain, suppressing approaching power even without deliberately exerting pressure 143.
  • Cannot independently withstand the entire seven-hundred-thousand-year tribulation 90.

Emperor Palm: Great Cold, No Snow

An innate palm technique carrying destructive ice-path force 90.

  • Shatters numerous tribulation bolts with palm strikes 90.
  • Supplies the destructive palm force within her combined ultimate attack 90.

Emperor’s Sword: Ice Extreme Unparalleled

An innate sword technique whose ice-path sword intent can cleave heavenly punishment 90.

  • Cuts through tribulation lightning governed by heavenly law 90.
  • Contributes law-severing sword intent to the fusion of her three divine skills 90.

Three-Skill Fusion

During the final tribulation, Snow Empress combines Emperor’s Cold Heaven, Emperor Palm, and Emperor’s Sword for the first time in her long life 90.

  • Produces an ice-blue killing move by merging extreme-cold Dao rhythm, destructive palm force, and sword intent 90.
  • Draws upon her remaining Soul Power, ice-path source, accumulated foundation, and the Far North’s ice-and-snow power 90.
  • Her successful survival still depends on Li Changqing’s separate Life-and-Destruction reversal; that reversal is not her own technique 90.

Ice-Mist Concealment and Snow Manifestation

She uses ice and snow for concealed movement and physical manifestation 88 124 130 143.

  • Hides herself and Li Changqing in ultimate ice mist to infiltrate Earth Dragon Gate undetected 88.
  • Appears from gathering snowflakes and departs in a swirl of snow 124 125 130 143.
  • Freezes Sea God Lake upon appearing beside Li Changqing 143.

Spiritual Perception and Dao Insight

Her long cultivation gives her exceptional sensitivity to spiritual origins and natural laws 104 114 124.

  • Detects the aura of Mysterious Ice Marrow beneath Earth Dragon Gate 88.
  • Recognizes Sky Dream’s role in Ice Empress’s sacrifice and sees through his disguises and spiritual schemes 104.
  • Examines tournament participants’ soul rings, martial soul quality, vitality, and spiritual fluctuations 114.
  • Recognizes the unusually pure origin of Ye Guyi’s Sacred Angel martial spirit and the elevated sacred aura within Wang Donger 115 124.
  • Cannot fully discern Li Changqing’s foundation, origins, or the nature of the power he controls 111 146.

Equipment / Items

  • Ice-and-snow-origin dress — A white dress condensed from the Far North’s ice-and-snow origin. It does not collect dust or deteriorate with time, although its unchanging style prompts her to obtain human clothing 114.
  • Replacement white dress — Provided by Li Changqing after the tribulation destroys her previous clothing; light, soft, and simply styled 92.
  • Ten-Thousand-Year Mysterious Ice Marrow and Ice Extreme Divine Crystals — Cultivation resources obtained from the Black Ice Cave and refined to strengthen her source before the tribulation 89 90.

Relationships

  • Li Changqing — Rescuer, contractual charge, and trusted companion. She becomes his Dao protector after he helps her survive her tribulation, while continuing to assert authority over her own future 90 106 109 113.
  • Ice Empress / Bing’er — Ancient companion regarded as her sister. Their affectionate reunion does not overcome Snow Empress’s refusal to join the God-Making Project 105 108 110 113.
  • Huo Yuhao — Ice Empress’s host and an unsuccessful prospective beneficiary of Snow Empress’s sacrifice. She judges his innate foundation insufficient to make godhood certain 103 110 111 113.
  • Sky Dream Ice Silkworm / Tian Meng — Schemer behind Ice Empress’s sacrifice. Snow Empress exposes his involvement, while he fears both her strength and her ability to see through him 104.
  • Mu En — Shrek Academy powerhouse who identifies her Limit Douluo-equivalent strength and questions the risks of accepting her presence. She directly challenges whether being a soul beast would make her a target 143 144.
  • Wang Donger — Subject of Snow Empress’s warning about concealed divine influence. Snow Empress reports her concerns to Li Changqing rather than intervening herself 124.
