Background / History

Ye Guyi is descended from the Sacred Angel lineage, whose bloodline traces back to the Angel God and Spirit Hall's former Pope lineage. By the time of her introduction, she and her mother, Ye Wanqing, are believed to be the only remaining inheritors of the pure Sacred Angel bloodline. Her potential is considered exceptional: if she reaches the rank of Titled Douluo, her Angel Martial Spirit may evolve to twelve wings. 4 52 61

While investigating disappearances near the Shadowy Forest, Guyi was isolated and surrounded by five evil soul masters. Badly wounded and depleted, she chose to burn her remaining soul power and attempted to self-destruct her martial spirit origin rather than be captured. Li Changqing interrupted the attempt, healed her injuries with his pagoda's power, and eliminated her attackers. 1

Guyi then led Li Changqing to Ye Wanqing, who had been holding off two Soul Emperor-level evil soul masters. Although Li saved them, Ye Wanqing's injuries proved fatal. Before dying, she entrusted Guyi to Li, asking him to guide her daughter through the chaotic era rather than let her repeat the lineage's pattern of reckless sacrifice. 2 3 5

After burying her mother, Guyi permitted Li Changqing to preserve Ye Wanqing's Life Soul in her Sea of Spirit. The Life Soul is intended to preserve the essential part needed to potentially reshape Ye Wanqing's soul and revive her if Guyi can one day attain godhood. 7

Guyi followed Li Changqing to Shrek Academy, seeking its resources, protection, and intelligence on evil soul masters. Four years later, she helped Jiang Nannan preserve her deceased mother's Life Soul in the same spiritual sea, giving Nannan a similar hope of eventual resurrection. 7 17 28

Personality

Initially, Guyi is fiercely idealistic, proud, and willing to die rather than surrender to evil soul masters. She sees protecting others and purifying evil as the inherited duty of the Angel lineage, even when the odds make survival unlikely. 1 4

Li Changqing repeatedly challenges this recklessness. Her mother's death and Li's blunt lessons gradually make her more conscious of strategy, restraint, intelligence gathering, and the need to survive long enough to fulfill her duty. Guyi remains straightforward and sharp-tempered. She is easily provoked by Li Changqing's teasing, proud of her lineage, and openly jealous when she believes other women may be close to him.
