Inuzuka Hara headed north, first finding the Support Squadron responsible for the five northern defense zones.

When the Support Squadron Commander heard that a Stone Ninja Assault Battalion had appeared to the south, he immediately grew tense. After destroying Zones 16 to 20, would that battalion come for the five defense zones under his command?

The Support Squadron Commander said, "Head northeast, about thirty kilometers. The Hidden Leaf Village's Assault Battalion is there."

Inuzuka Hara's face lit up with delight. Wonderful! Luck was on his side—he had already found a lead on the Assault Battalion.

He noticed the Shimura Clan crest on the Battalion Commander's clothes.

"Battalion Commander Shimura!" Inuzuka Hara hurriedly said.

"A Stone Ninja Assault Battalion has appeared across from Zones 16 to 20!

"Please come to our defense zones and help us ambush them!"

"Oh?" Shimura Ganfū's voice was distant. "You discovered that Stone Ninja Assault Battalion too?"

"Too? What do you mean, 'discovered them too'?"

Inuzuka Hara's expression abruptly darkened.

Had the Assault Battalion known all along that an enemy battalion was stationed across from the Land of Waterfalls?

Shimura Ganfū said, "The village's spy in Iwagakure sent back valuable intelligence about a battalion nearby.

"We're here to deal with that battalion. We must wipe them out to honor our spy's sacrifice."

"Then why didn't you tell us beforehand?" Inuzuka Hara asked in shock. "What was the point of me taking my squad out to gather intelligence?"

His ninja dog had died. His squad members had died.

Shimura Ganfū said coldly, "Our mission is to annihilate the Stone Ninja Assault Battalion. Naturally, we must keep our intelligence confidential and preserve the element of surprise."

Inuzuka Hara's shoulders slumped, and his head slowly drooped.
