Background / History

A consciousness from modern-day China awakens in five-year-old Academy student Uchiha Ling during a spar with Kakashi. Ling discovers that attempts to encourage others come out as cutting insults. After his Defense-Breaking System rewards him for Kakashi’s distress, he decides to use his sharp tongue as a means of survival and sets his sights on becoming Konoha’s greatest trash talker 1 104.

Ling’s parents died in the Land of Waves, leaving him a neglected home and his father’s ninjutsu notes. His cousin Uchiha Jing looks after him and later blocks an attempt to graduate him early into wartime service. With clan head Fugaku’s intervention, Ling initially chooses to remain at the Academy 2 14 26 27.

Ling eventually graduates early and joins a Genin squad with Mitaraishi Anko and Dule Jiong under Orochimaru. Fugaku asks him to spread the Uchiha name beyond the Military Police Force. Deployed without a normal adjustment period, the squad survives repeated front-line assignments in the Land of Waterfalls 54 55 59 96.

Appearance

At the Academy, Ling is tall and thin enough for classmates to call him “Skinny Pole.” Later, his Sharingan shows one tomoe in each crimson eye before developing to three 24 69 119.

His cruelty is not a reliable measure of his intentions. He registers Yamano’s niece Xiuxiang as a civilian rather than push her into ninja life, teaches Dule Jiong the Shadow Clone Technique to help him scout traps, and stays with Suzuri during a lonely watch. Conversely, he has watched Dule fight for his life in the hope of triggering a Sharingan awakening.
