Background / History

Lin Yizhong is Lin Yu's homeroom teacher and a longtime comrade of Lin Yu's father, Lin Aiguo. Having watched Lin Yu grow up, he maintains a close relationship with the Lin family; Lin Yu calls him “Uncle Lin” outside school, though Lin Yizhong insists on being addressed as “Teacher” at school. 3 18

He teaches Class 1, Banyan City No. 1 High School's key class. He began teaching at the school at the same time as Class 2 homeroom teacher Luo Yongjun; both are fourth-rank Guardians with comparable strength. 11

Before his retirement, Principal Murong Hongchen selects Lin Yizhong to succeed the outgoing dean of discipline. Lin Yizhong is earnest and attentive toward his students. Before the Awakening Ritual, he stresses its importance and encourages the class to face it without hesitation. He is especially protective and proud of Lin Yu. When Lin Yu's identity and abnormal strength are questioned during the ritual, Lin Yizhong personally guarantees his identity and asks that the ritual be allowed to continue before giving an explanation. 14 18

He can also be competitive and sharp-tongued, particularly in his rivalry with Luo Yongjun over the key-class position. As Class 1's homeroom teacher, Lin Yizhong leads his students to Sky-Leaping Hall and oversees their participation. He encourages Lin Yu before his turn, then intervenes when Principal Murong becomes suspicious of Lin Yu's pre-awakening strength. 11 13 14

Following Lin Yu's second awakening, Lin Yizhong confirms to the assembled leaders that Lin Yu had naturally awakened through an Awakening Spirit Pill before the ritual. He later escorts Lin Yu away from the meeting and collects a recovery pill for him. 18 19 21

Conqueror's Haki Incident

During a later class activity, Lin Yu accidentally releases newly awakened Conqueror's Haki, causing the students to collapse and leaving Lin Yizhong unsteady. Lin Yu immediately catches him and expresses concern, while Principal Murong rushes to the classroom after sensing the disturbance. 142
