"But their methods are far too extreme. The keynote of the world we inhabit was set long ago, during the Severing Heaven and Earth. In the future, it is destined to move toward an age of complete materialization. Whether gods and sages or all living beings dwelling on the world's outer side, their interference with the inner side will inevitably become less and less."

"Yet many of Free City's experiments are built upon simulating the outer-side environment, or even directly connecting to the outer side. Such actions may allow them to imitate corresponding systems of power in an extremely short time, but these experiments fundamentally run contrary to the world's future course.
