On Penglai Island, Red Candle rose to his feet, intending to stop Tongtian, only to be blocked by Dong Chen.
"Dong Chen?"
Facing Red Candle's astonished expression, Dong Chen shook his head. "This is no great matter. Fellow Daoist Red Candle need not be so worried."
"He's planning to execute an immortal, and that isn't a great matter?"
"Since ancient times, more than ten thousand Dao-realm cultivators and gods have perished. It is only Xuan Qing, a single Dao-realm cultivator. It amounts to nothing."
"But most Dao-realm cultivators and gods who died in the past perished either before or after the great war between the Heavenly Emperor and the Earth Mother, or when Xuanyuan the Yellow Emperor campaigned against the disobedient. Their deaths came from suppression by beings of higher status. This is different."
Dong Chen remained utterly calm. "In the past, had there never been cases where cultivators of the same realm, or even lower realms, slew Dao-realm cultivators a level above them? Setting aside distant examples, when Yu the Great diverted the waters into the Eastern Sea, were there not seven or eight Dao-realm cultivators who died by his hand?"
"Though today's affair is somewhat unusual, it should still be left for Fellow Daoist Yu Chen to handle, rather than inviting your interference."
Red Candle did not accept Dong Chen's answer. "But most of them only died for an instant, did they not? The sole fellow Daoist who cultivated the Taiyi Immortal Dao and was grievously wounded repaired his damaged Dao qi two thousand years later, condensing a Dao body capable of bearing it."
"But Tongtian's manner is not as simple as destroying the vessel that bears one's Dao qi. He means to wipe them out root and branch! Even when Xuanyuan the Yellow Emperor
