Tongtian, riding Azure Ox back to Shangqiu in the Central Plains, was startled when he saw Yu Chen.
"How did you end up like this? Did something go wrong in your cultivation?"
He had not sensed anything while outside, but now that he saw Yu Chen with his own eyes, he finally noticed the anomaly.
Yu Chen's body was half-solid and half-illusory. Or rather, Yu Chen was currently in a state where illusion and reality overlapped.
"No!" Tongtian narrowed his eyes slightly. Yu Chen was not an overlap of illusion and reality, but of reality, illusion, and nonbeing.
All three appeared upon Yu Chen simultaneously. Yu Chen himself had not changed much, while that layer of illusion was almost the junction between reality and nonbeing, an important medium through which Tongtian could observe nonbeing.
As for that final nonbeing, Tongtian could not see anything at all.
If he insisted on observing it, he could only use that layer of illusion to forcefully probe it.
And the result of that probing was an endless radiance, like hundreds of millions upon hundreds of millions of suns converging within that illusory shadow. Every sun contained a portion of Yu Chen's memories. The radiance of those suns overlapped, and nearly endless information, tangled and chaotic beyond measure, automatically gathered into Tongtian's eyes as he probed deeper.
Hearing Tongtian's question and noticing the other's abnormality, Yu Chen instantly awakened from his cultivation state. The strange phenomena around him gradually faded, and he returned to his usual appearance as a Daoist immortal.
Then Yu Chen frowned at Tongtian, somewhat worried. "You need not worry about my problem. It is not a cultivation mishap, but a natural phenomenon arising from comprehending the distinction between being and nonbeing. Compared to me, you should be more careful. Those memories
