Background / History

Huo Shan originated from the Eight Extremes Lineage. In his youth, he devoted himself to training in the Eight Extremes Gate but remained unable to enter its inner sect; he later left the sect and established himself in Big Stone County by opening the Huo Family Martial Arts School. 29

The school became a local inheritance of Eight Extremes Fist. Huo Shan’s standing as a Transformation Force expert deterred lesser martial organizations from openly provoking his disciples. 24

His former sect brother Du Feiyang later returned to Big Stone County with the intention of making his Soaring Martial Arts School the county’s sole Eight Extremes Fist inheritance. Huo Shan accepted Du’s challenge at the Heroes’ Gathering, where Du ultimately attacked Zhao Feng dishonorably and was defeated by Huo Shan. 82 86 87 90

Appearance

Huo Shan is a massive, imposing martial artist whose movements contrast sharply with his build; he can land lightly atop Plum Blossom Stakes despite his weight. During the Heroes’ Gathering, he wore fitted training clothes secured with coiled-dragon clasps and retained abundant, vigorous qi and blood. 9 86

  • Large, heavyset build. 9
  • Powerful physical presence and a stern bearing when instructing disciples. 9 33
  • His qi and blood remain notably vigorous despite his age. 86

Personality

Huo Shan is a demanding but attentive master. He stresses discipline, proper conduct, and martial virtue, while tailoring his guidance to a disciple’s strengths and weaknesses. He initially invested most of the school’s resources in Chu Fan due to the latter’s exceptional second-grade bone structure, but gradually recognized Zhao Feng’s perseverance and comprehension. 11 30 35

He is deeply protective of his disciples and school. Chu Fan’s dantian injuries leave him devastated, and he worries that a loss to Du Feiyang would ruin his disciples’ futures alongside the school’s reputation. 76 83
