Background / History

Ning Rongrong is the daughter of Ning Fengzhi, leader of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. During an encounter with evil Soul Masters, she bargains for teleportation to safety rather than accepting Lei Yi's initial offer at face value, raising the payment from ten to one hundred Gold Soul Coins. 20

Her early encounters with Luo Yihe are hostile and embarrassing. When he makes an improper advance and grabs her, she tries to kick him, only to be left off-balance after he suddenly releases her foot. 21 She later becomes fascinated by Luo Yihe's independent martial soul, Mew, giving it a gemstone and attempting to establish a bond strong enough to bring it to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. 27 Her efforts fail when she cannot find food Mew will accept, leaving her distraught when it departs again. 28

After witnessing the chaos surrounding Luo Yihe and Xiao Chenghe, Ning Rongrong becomes frightened of them; upon meeting them again in Heaven Dou City, she considers leaving the city altogether. 55 Despite this fear, she resumes an antagonistic but increasingly familiar dynamic with Luo Yihe, traveling with him, Dugu Yan, and Ye Lingling and arranging for the group to attend Heaven Dou Imperial Academy. 56 57

The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect is later attacked, with many disciples killed or wounded and its leading Douluo severely injured. Ning Rongrong herself is reported injured in the incident. 67 At Heaven Dou Imperial Academy, she becomes embroiled in the conflict with Yu Tianheng after ridiculing him and is subsequently kicked when she tries to stop him from destroying Luo Yihe and Xiao Chenghe's villa. 73 76

Following the incident, Ning Rongrong asks Ning Fengzhi and Sword Douluo to protect Luo Yihe from retaliation by the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect. 82 She also treats Luo Yihe to a private dinner, where her loneliness and difficulty fitting in with other gifted students become clear. 82 83 When threats arise against her group, she purchases an 80,000-square-meter plot outside Heaven Dou City for a future shared residence and later helps Luo Yihe acquire ingredients for his ability-cube refinement. 85

During Luo Yihe's stay at the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Ning Rongrong remains loyal even after he uses her as the test subject for a Two-Pattern Soul Pill. The pill raises her soul power by five levels without harmful effects. 86

Ning Rongrong is proud, sharp-tongued, and unwilling to be undervalued. When offered escape for ten Gold Soul Coins, she objects that she is “priceless” before setting a hundred-Gold-Soul-Coin price herself. 20 She also openly mocks Yu Tianheng and joins Luo Yihe in provoking him when his arrogance becomes intolerable. 73 75

She is socially perceptive and opportunistic. Her immediate attempt to befriend Mew is motivated by genuine affection for its appearance and power, as well as the possibility of persuading it to join her sect. 27 She can also be deeply cautious: her experiences around Luo Yihe leave her anticipating disaster whenever he and Xiao Chenghe appear. 55 72 74

Beneath her pride, Ning Rongrong is lonely and sensitive to rejection. She admits that neither the geniuses at Shrek nor those at Heaven Dou Imperial Academy seemed to accept her, despite being peers of similar talent and status. 83 Her later actions show considerable loyalty, particularly in asking her family to protect Luo Yihe and funding security arrangements for her friends. 82 85
