Background / History

Tianlin was born during a meteor phenomenon, prompting his father Jun Tianhai to name him for a “heavenly descended qilin child.” Tianlin later connected the powerful auras present at his birth to Ferocious Beasts. 110

He left his parents, Jun Tianhai and Mo Lan, to join the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and pursue the path of a great Soul Master. Sword Douluo Chen Xin personally escorted him to the sect, where Tianlin first met Ning Fengzhi, Gu Rong, and Ning Rongrong. 5

Chen Xin became Tianlin's master and trained him in fundamental sword movements before allowing him to develop his own sword intent. Tianlin secretly cultivated the Nüwa Emperor Meditation Method and concealed his Mount Shu techniques, considering both secrets more sensitive than his Twin Martial Souls. 11

At Heaven Dou Royal Academy, Tianlin joined the future Royal Fight Team and began planning for the Continental Advanced Spirit Master Academy Tournament. He regarded teamwork as necessary even with his own exceptional strength. 29 30

Tianlin later entered Slaughter City to seek the Asura God's inheritance and the Killing God Domain. During his stay, he achieved eighty-two consecutive Hell Slaughter Arena victories and became known as the Sword Dao Asura. 230 236

Tianlin is ambitious, calculating, and intensely focused on preventing the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's future destruction. He trains relentlessly, often refusing rest because he believes survival through the coming crisis must take priority. 11

He is pragmatic in politics and combat. He recognizes Qian Renxue's deception, chooses to maintain a useful relationship with her, and intends to use his foreknowledge rather than openly expose himself. 20 He similarly treats allies, rivals, and enemies according to whether they can be trusted, recruited, restrained, or defeated. 96 105

Despite his ruthlessness, Tianlin is strongly devoted to his parents, Chen Xin, Ning Rongrong, and the sect. He gives rare medicines to his parents, keeps a 100,000-year torso bone for Chen Xin, and repeatedly acts to strengthen and protect the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. 53 215
