You can be resurrected in the future? Then I'll burn you to ashes first.
"Resurrected? Lord Rod, are you saying this hateful bastard can still crawl back out of hell?" Arthas asked with a look of shock.
"Very likely, Your Highness. Don't underestimate these resurrection-type necromantic spells. He might even become a lich," Rod said with a firm nod.
"Kel'Thuzad has mastered forbidden necromantic magic. That 'Dreadlord' he serves may very well possess the ability to resurrect powerful undead.
Burning his corpse and cutting off every possibility of revival is the safest course of action."
Rod wanted to see how Kel'Thuzad, reduced to ashes, would be resurrected as a lich in the future.
Or perhaps he would be revived as some half-crippled defective. That would certainly be a splendid sight.
"Lord Rod is right, Arthas! The core of necromantic spells lies in the connection between corpse and soul.
Completely destroying his body is the key to preventing his resurrection! We cannot risk allowing such a powerful enemy to rise again!" Jaina nodded at the side as well, agreeing with Rod's method.
Kel'Thuzad, floating nearby in soul form, practically wanted to curse. What the hell? Are you bastards really this vicious?
That bastard named Rod was simply too hateful. He had not even transformed into a lich yet!
His body had to be preserved. If it were burned to ashes, he would be unable to undergo the transformation.
Only by becoming a lich could he enjoy the benefits of a phylactery. He had to find a way to sabotage this.
The surrounding Lordaeron soldiers nodded in agreement as well. Their gazes toward that pile of mangled flesh were filled with disgust and fear. The thought that necromancers could be resurrected was truly terrifying.
Arthas nodded, accepting Rod's suggestion.
"Thank you for the warning, Lord Rod. You are right. I must eliminate all future trouble.
Burn him! Burn him completely! Burn down this plague-tainted barn with him! We cannot leave behind even the slightest remnant of the source of the plague!"
Arthas suddenly swung his hand and ordered the soldiers, "Soldiers, gather wood! Pour on the oil! Immediately! Now!"
"The ashes cannot be spared either. Once you burn him, scatter the ashes into the water to feed the fish." Rod intended to grind him to dust and scatter his ashes.
You despicable bastard! Rod, I'll remember you! I'll definitely kill you! Kel'Thuzad's soul immediately commanded several Crypt Fiends lurking nearby to act.
Just as several soldiers bent down to deal with that nauseating mass of bloody remains, the seemingly solid ground beside them suddenly exploded!
Dirt and shattered stones shot upward like a fountain as a gigantic spider-like undead creature, its carapace gleaming with a dark sheen, burst violently from the earth—a Crypt Fiend!
Its savage mandibles let out a piercing hiss. Moving as fast as lightning, it thrust out its thick forelimbs, instantly spraying a sticky, highly resilient white web that tightly wrapped Kel'Thuzad's mangled "remains," along with the scraps of his clothing, then violently rolled them up like a bag of trash!
"Stop it!" Arthas reacted first. With an angry roar, Might of Menethil howled with Holy Light as it smashed fiercely toward the monster.
Jaina's Frostbolt flew out almost simultaneously, carrying bone-piercing cold as it shot straight for the Crypt Fiend's head.
However, the Crypt Fiend was exceptionally cunning. Its primary objective seemed to be seizing the corpse rather than fighting.
Its enormous body displayed astonishing agility. The instant the web rolled up the remains, its entire body sank downward like a loach!
Boom!
Arthas's warhammer slammed into the spot where it had just vanished, leaving behind only a huge crater and flying dirt.
Jaina's Frostbolt grazed the edge of its carapace as it disappeared underground, freezing a small patch of ground, yet failing to harm it in the slightest.
"Damn it! What is that monster?" Arthas stared at the ground as it rapidly closed up, leaving only a dark, bottomless hole. He stomped his foot in fury.
Holy Light surged violently around him, revealing that the rage in his heart was nearly breaking through his reason.
"Th-that monster... it took the corpse!" a soldier cried out in horror, his face filled with fear.
They had watched the remains of that evil mage get dragged into the dark underground with their own eyes. What on earth was that terrifying spider, larger than a horse?
Arthas could now almost be certain that Rod's earlier words had come true. Otherwise, that spider-like undead creature would have had no reason to steal Kel'Thuzad's corpse.
Just as he had expected! Kel'Thuzad's remains had been taken.
Rod looked at the hole still billowing smoke and dust. His suggestion to "grind him to dust and scatter his ashes" had not merely been meant to disgust Kel'Thuzad—it had also been a test, a test of whether the other side had a backup plan.
Now the backup plan had appeared, and it had succeeded. It seemed the Burning Legion had been watching this operation all along, and so had the Lich King. Rod understood that he could not make changes that were too drastic.
He could not remain by Arthas's side for too long. Otherwise, those people might take notice of him—or perhaps they had already noticed him.
"We pursue! We absolutely cannot let that bastard harm my people again. I will destroy him completely," Arthas said, intending to give chase, but it was already too late.
Once the Crypt Fiend had successfully escaped underground, no one could determine its exact location. In the end, the pursuit had to be abandoned.
Arthas furiously swung his warhammer, clearing out the undead creatures around them. When the last undead creature had been eliminated,
Rod's Hero System sounded with a notification.
A glorious victory. Rod gained more than 1,300 experience points. Added to the 200-plus points he had earned earlier, his total of over 1,500 experience points successfully raised him to Level 2.
Reaching Level 2 granted one attribute point, and the system thoughtfully allowed Rod to choose where to allocate it. After pondering for a moment, Rod added the precious point to Knowledge, bringing his mana to 30. After using Blessing of Wisdom, it could reach 35.
Besides the attribute point from leveling up, Rod also received a skill upgrade reward. The skills available for selection were Eagle Eye and a new skill, Basic Earth Magic.
Without any hesitation, Rod selected Basic Earth Magic.
In Azeroth, Rod would prioritize Wisdom and the four elemental schools of magic.
Necromancy, Eagle Eye, and these five skills made a total of seven. As for the final skill, Rod planned to see what suitable special ability might be available later.
After this battle ended, Rod's Necromancy successfully triggered as well. More than seven hundred undead had been eliminated this time, and Rod's Necromancy raised over a hundred Skeleton Soldiers.
All these Skeleton Soldiers appeared within the hero formation, unnoticed by anyone.
