The night was deep, and the cold wind howled.

Cloudbreak Cliff, a hundred li west of Konoha, was filled with jagged rocks and swirling mist, its terrain exceptionally treacherous. Inside a hidden cave, dimly lit by flickering lamps, more than twenty Kaguya Remnants in black robes sat in silence, waiting for news from the assassins.

A cruel smile curled Black Crow's lips as he slowly nodded. "Once Lin Chen is dealt with, Konoha will be leaderless. Then we can take advantage of the chaos, secretly seize the tailed beasts, and move another step closer to reviving Lady Kaguya."

In his view, no matter how terrifying Lin Chen's strength was, he could not evade a fatal ambush. This operation was bound to succeed without a hitch.

Yet they waited and waited, but no news came from the assassins. The atmosphere inside the cave gradually became restless and anxious.

"Chief, something's wrong. It's been so long—why haven't we heard anything? Could something have happened?" A black-robed man asked, unable to hide his concern.
