"Helen!" *2
Helen's words were exceptionally resolute. Even Sherlock and John Wick looking at her at the same time and trying to stop her proved futile. After all, if Helen had not been such a gentle yet strong woman, she could never have held the cold heart of the God of Killing.
Faced with the nearly identical concerned expressions from the two men, Helen did not back down in the slightest. Like a proud swan, she raised her neck and met their gazes.
Seeing Helen like this, Sherlock, as her most familiar friend since his transmigration, knew that Helen had already made up her mind.
In other words, even if Sherlock refused John Wick now, Helen would have John Wick follow them in secret.
But it was unrealistic for Sherlock to bring John Wick to the Middle East without worry. After all, they had already caught the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D.—or rather, Hydra. If he left Helen and doro, two people without the strength to defend themselves, at home, Sherlock would never be able to rest easy.
Looking at the determined gazes of Helen and John Wick, Sherlock thought for a moment before finally making an extremely bold decision.
"All right. But since John Wick is going too, why don't we all go together? We can treat it like a trip to the Middle East!"
The moment Sherlock said this, doro, delighted at the prospect of going out to play again, enthusiastically waved its four little stubby legs in Helen's arms in support. Helen and John Wick, meanwhile, both looked utterly astonished.
As for Sherlock, he had made this decision out of helplessness. If he truly left Helen and doro at home and departed with John Wick, Sherlock would not be at ease. But if he did not take John Wick with him, Helen would not be at ease.
Since that was the case, Sherlock simply made an open move. Either they all went together, or John Wick did not go at all!
After all, in Sherlock's eyes, this so-called trip to the Middle East was not particularly dangerous. Even bringing Helen along would not cause any problems.
As for doro?
Put it this way: when Sherlock had created doro, he had made it immune to all ranged weapons. Usually inconspicuous, doro was actually the most agile of the four.
Sherlock's original intention in proposing this had been to make Helen back down and leave John Wick behind to guard the house. But what Sherlock had never expected was that, upon hearing his suggestion, Helen actually looked extremely interested.
"Really? I can go too? Would I cause you any trouble?"
Seeing Helen like this, both Sherlock and John Wick were speechless for a moment. John Wick in particular shot Sherlock a look whose meaning was obvious.
"You said it. You explain it yourself!"
After catching John Wick's look, Sherlock watched as John Wick's eyes darted everywhere but toward him, clearly unwilling to meet his gaze. Sherlock was nearly angered into laughter by the sight.
He immediately stopped hesitating. They were going! All of them! And John Wick would be paying for it, using the Continental Hotel's channels!
As for whether John Wick showing up at the Continental Hotel again would cause panic?
In Sherlock's view, that was no longer a problem. As long as he and Helen stood beside John Wick, there would be no panic. After all, he was not carrying guns or cannons. He merely wanted to take his family and friends on a trip—what else could anyone say?
Even if someone asked, there were plenty of excuses. John Wick had earned so many gold coins, so he had to spend them, right? The Continental Hotel had excellent service, and I like service that treats me like a king—isn't that a reason? Not wanting doro to be shipped as pet cargo—wasn't that a reason too?
Reality could be absurd sometimes. The Night Devil, holding gold coins while wearing shackles, was not frightening. Even if that God of Killing appeared anywhere, it was the same.
In contrast, the Night Devil who picked up his weapons again and lost his shackles was the one these people feared!
Although John Wick was somewhat displeased about having to spend money to bring everyone to the Middle East, he did not object. His displeasure was merely the childish frustration of losing a contest between men; it did not mean he disagreed with Sherlock's decision.
As for Helen's safety, John Wick was not worried. As Sherlock's friend and the person who understood Sherlock best, John Wick naturally knew what Sherlock was capable of.
He had Helen go home to pack, while he drove the old Mustang straight toward the Continental Hotel in downtown New York City.
Sherlock, on the other hand, had nothing much to pack. He merely summoned his Spear of Longinus, held it horizontally before his chest, and clapped his hands together. The over-six-foot spear vanished before his eyes.
doro was not particularly surprised by this. Instead, it ran over to Sherlock as if it were used to it, tugging at his clothes and shaking them repeatedly.
"Human, Orangina! Don't forget the Orangina!"
Hearing doro's words, Sherlock smiled. He went to the refrigerator and packed away an entire fridge's worth of oranges before doro, following behind him, finally looked satisfied and scampered off to play with Helen.
Only after doro had left did Sherlock smile helplessly. He returned to the study, found some alchemical items he had stored away, and began packing his own things as well.
Compared to Helen's preparations, Sherlock's were incredibly simple. With the help of the Spatial Capsule and Spatial Ring, he easily packed all the necessities.
The so-called Spatial Capsule and Spatial Ring were merely little gadgets Sherlock had made by imitating Newt's suitcase from the Harry Potter films.
The Spatial Capsule had a large capacity, and it worked much like the capsules in Dragon Ball. Sherlock packed away his Raptor.
Since he was already going to the desert, wouldn't it be a wasted trip to the Middle East if he did not drive the Raptor around in the sand? As the saying went, when trouble came knocking, people like him should seek peace amid the trouble.
The rings, meanwhile, had considerably less space. Sherlock had made two of them, one for each hand. The one on his left held clothes and money, while the one on his right held food and supplies.
It was not much, but it was enough.
It had to be said that the Continental Hotel's service was truly first-rate. Even though it was already close to afternoon, when John Wick drove the old Mustang back, a call from the Continental Hotel arrived on his phone at the same time.
As long as Sherlock's group headed to the airport now, they could immediately take a direct flight to the Middle East!
