Wu Pifu was released after ten minutes in confinement. He acted as if nothing had happened, finished his lunch, then continued observing his surroundings with an expressionless face and dead-fish eyes.
There was only a kindergarten.
Beyond the windows was nothing but an expanse of white—not the Void, but nothingness, the kind where there was absolutely nothing.
Yet everyone around him, children and teachers alike, seemed not to care.
The Nightmare composed its expression and approached with a smile, clapping its hands. "Children, it's time for your nap. If you don't behave, the dirty thing under the bed will take you away."
"...Oh, next up is the dirty thing under the bed?"
Wu Pifu nodded silently. Then his lips moved, and the Nightmare heard his voice beside its ear: "What would happen if I beat you to death right here and now?"
The Nightmare shuddered all over, but a cold smile appeared on its face.
Wu Pifu said nothing. After silently sensing the situation, he said, "Looks like I can't. This space places severe restrictions on both you and me. If you're recognized as something other than human, it seems something terrible will happen... So you'd better not be alone. Otherwise, I could kill you in under three seconds."
The Nightmare was certain Wu Pifu was telling the truth. In fact, those three seconds included the entire sequence of Wu Pifu spotting it, rushing over, killing it, moving away, and pretending to be innocent. If they were face-to-face, it might not survive even a second.
