Background / History

Shrek Academy was founded by Flander and rose to continental prominence through Tang San and the first Shrek Seven Devils. After ten thousand years of inheritance, it became the Douluo Continent's foremost academy, formally independent of every nation; its dean could stand as an equal to emperors. 1

During the war following the collision of the Sun Moon and Douluo Continents, a Shrek dean rallied nearly sixty Titled Douluo and commanded the allied armies to defeat the Sun Moon Empire. The victory reinforced Shrek's independent status and continent-wide prestige. 1

Its original maxim was “only recruit monsters, not waste.” As nobles and royal families demanded access, the academy established outer and inner courts: the outer court admitted broader enrollment, while the inner court retained the academy's concentrated resources and elite standards. 1

Inner and Outer Courts

• Outer Court — Accepted students under twelve with Soul Power of at least level 15; recommendation letters from nobles, officials, or notable Soul Masters could support enrollment. 1 13

Yuwen Tuo Conflict

Shrek brought Yuwen Tuo to the academy after discovering his genuine Innate Level 20 Soul Power, despite his repeated desire not to enroll. 5 6

Mu En and Xuan Zi decided to use Yuwen Tuo's Supreme Pure Fire to purify Ma Xiaotao's Evil Fire, knowing that doing so would pollute and cripple his Martial Soul. He was kept at Shrek for six years while Ma Xiaotao drained his Soul Power for treatment. 6 138 140

Yuwen Tuo ultimately exposed the altered Awakening record and Shrek's treatment of him during the Soul Dueling Tournament. Testimony from Ma Sino and Su Yunlang, alongside an Image Recording Soul Tool, confirmed that he had awakened with Innate Level 20 Soul Power and had been harmed by Shrek. 137 139 140

Destruction and Reconstruction

Yuwen Tuo first returned to Shrek with Yuwen Qiu and Xiao Xiao, beginning a direct assault that destroyed most of the academy. His and Yuwen Qiu's Beyond Reincarnation formed a black hole that devastated the grounds and killed Song Yunzhi before an outside lightning strike disrupted it. 422 433

Afterward, Yan Shaozhe rebuilt Shrek using the Heaven Dou Empire's treasury. Enrollment had already fallen to one-third of previous levels, but Shrek's surviving elders and core disciples expected the institution to recover. 422 536

Yuwen Tuo later destroyed the rebuilt academy again. He crippled Yan Shaozhe, had Cao Jinxuan's three-hundred-member Soul Engineer Legion bombard the site through the night, and arranged evidence—including Cai Meier's testimony—to place blame on the Sun Moon Empire. 546
