It was night in the old Dawn Capital commercial district, the busiest and most bustling time of the day. The city was bathed in neon light, and traffic flowed like a loom.
The advertisements hanging above the pedestrians' heads were as dense as a spread of playing cards on a table.
Just then, a figure like a bat suddenly descended from the sky. The newcomer had a pair of large black wings on his back, fangs protruding from the corners of his mouth, and his body was covered in a layer of fuzzy, cyan fur.
Blue Bat, an official D-rank mutant fugitive. As the name suggested, his body had acquired the traits of a bat during a genetic experiment.
Someone in the crowd recognized him.
Amidst piercing screams, Blue Bat raised his claws, grabbed two women standing on the street, and flapped his wings, preparing to fly upward.
At that moment, a figure wearing a red cape and a red helmet dropped from the top of a high-rise building.
Gyro Hero, a C-rank contracted hero of Hero Corporation. Under his mask was a young Black man who had failed to gain recognition from Hero Corporation in the United States but had shone brightly upon arriving in China.
His figure plummeted at high speed, the black dreadlocks behind his head swaying in the wind.
He raised his hands high, and between the index and middle fingers of both hands, white lines suddenly dangled, each connected at the end to a phantom-like spinning top.
The tops were wreathed in crimson flames. This was his ability: generating spinning tops imbued with fire.
"Hey, bro! Eat this."
Gyro Hero spoke in broken Chinese while throwing four fire-wreathed tops toward Blue Bat, who was just about to take flight.
They flew forward like four tiny, rotating fireballs. Blue Bat was quick-witted; he raised his massive wings and pulled them together in front of him. The flames spread out in mid-air for an instant.
Bathed in fire, Blue Bat roared loudly.
"Playing with fire will burn yourself." Gyro Hero clearly lacked a high level of education; he spoke an idiom that didn't fit the context while preparing to press his advantage.
But the next moment, Blue Bat suddenly shifted his offensive, spread his wings, and abruptly opened his mouth, emitting a sound like a lion's roar.
The invisible sonic wave shattered the glass display windows of the entire street and swept toward Gyro Hero.
Gyro Hero's eyes widened slightly. He sprinted to the right while spinning his four tops. The tops whirled rapidly at his sides, forming a vortex of flame, but the vortex was shattered by the sonic wave.
His body was blown back more than ten meters, crashing into a clothing store and landing amidst a pile of glass shards.
Blue Bat dropped the two women, roared, and flapped his wings, swooping down like a curtain of darkness, his sharp claws reaching for Gyro Hero's neck.
Just then, a beam of blue electric light suddenly roared in from afar, and a figure clad in a blue metal suit arrived on cue. He intercepted Blue Bat, throwing a punch wrapped in blue lightning.
"Boom!"
A deafening sound erupted. Blue Bat's body flew sideways, embedding itself into the wall as spiderweb-like cracks spread out from behind him.
"What the fuck?" Gyro Hero scrambled up from the ground, turning his head to look at the figure that had suddenly appeared.
In the ensuing silence, Blue Dove came to a halt, wisps of deep blue electric arcs still dancing around his body.
He slowly raised his head, the bird beak at his philtrum extending forward along with the movement.
"Pinocchio?" Looking at his beak, the young Black man, Gyro Hero, immediately thought of a certain fairy-tale character whose nose grew long.
"That Rain Crow is Crow-nocchio, and I am Dove-nocchio."
Blue Dove joked while raising his eyes, seeing that Blue Bat was about to open his mouth to use the same trick again.
So, he raised the fingers of his right hand into a knife-hand strike.
Black lightning erupted from the tips of his joined fingers, converging into a dancing, long-sword-like beam. The black lightning crossed ten meters in an instant, twisting and hissing with madness, piercing through Blue Bat's mouth and pinning him to the wall.
"Squelch!"
Accompanied by a tearing sound, Blue Bat's throat was seared open by the electric light, and his fangs were shattered.
He spat out a mouthful of blood, staining a large patch of the ground. He then clutched his pierced throat with both claws, his body slowly sagging downward, his wings drooping onto the ground.

Seeing that Blue Bat had stopped moving and no longer showed signs of life, Blue Dove was stunned.
"Oh, killing shouldn't be a crime for a superhero, right? It's not like I'm a Magical Girl." Blue Dove raised his arms. "I won't get cyberbullied, will I? Probably not, right, bro?"
As he spoke, he turned his head to look at Gyro Hero.
Gyro Hero stood frozen, first looking at Blue Bat, then turning his head with a look of astonishment to meet Blue Dove's gaze.
"I know I'm handsome. Do you need a selfie with me?"
As Blue Dove spoke, he reached out with lightning speed and grabbed the phone tied to Gyro Hero's waist.
He opened the selfie mode and held up a peace sign, but just as he was about to press the shutter with a "click," he accidentally poked the phone screen with his bird beak.
With a "crack," a fissure spread across the screen.
Looking at the spiderweb cracks on the screen, Gyro Hero's face instantly darkened, and he shouted loudly, "What are you doing, bro! Give me back my phone!" Perhaps due to a racial talent, the Black man sounded like he was rapping even when speaking Chinese.
Blue Dove touched the bird beak at his philtrum and let out a dry, awkward laugh.
"Damn, I accidentally poked the screen with my beak. It's my first time wearing this suit, so I'm not used to it yet. I'll have to look up how Rain Crow plays with his phone while wearing a mask later."
As he spoke, he patted Gyro Hero on the shoulder and handed the broken phone back to him.
"What's your name?" Gyro Hero looked at the phone, shook his head, and asked.
"Blue Dove."
The blue figure said. At this moment, the area outside the clothing store was packed with onlookers, most of whom were staff from the Voyeur Association; if they could capture footage of a new-generation superhero's debut, they would receive a huge reward.
A buzzing sound arrived as police cars reached the scene.
Camera flashes from the crowd were constant, and the red and blue lights of the police cars flashed alternately. Standing in the spotlight for the first time, Blue Dove felt a bit dizzy.
"I'm heading out, Gyro brother. I have a date tonight." Blue Dove dropped this line and stepped out of the clothing store.
He leaned forward slightly, and his figure was once again wreathed in crackling electric arcs.
But the next moment, a snow-white top hat suddenly descended from the sky, landing right in front of Blue Dove. Then, a figure entirely pale white appeared. He picked up the hat, placed it on his head, and landed on top of a street lamp.
"What is this?" Gyro Hero froze.
Blue Dove was also slightly stunned, then slowly raised his head, looking at the uninvited guest along with Gyro Hero.
White Jack slowly crouched down on the street lamp, his hollow eyes lowered, meeting Blue Dove's gaze.
It was like a fated reunion; the two men's eyes remained locked on each other's faces for a long time. Just then, screams erupted from the crowd as White Jack's identity was recognized.
"It's that white butt stuck in the Dawn Capital Iron Tower!"
"Ember's butt?"
"No, it's the guy whose butt was kicked by Magical Girl Ember!"
