Chapter 1229: Background
Stark and Norman Osborn were both atheists. When it came to so-called "gods," they both believed that they were simply another form of life.
Stark stroked his mustache and said, looking a little puzzled, "All right, even if there was a group of people who killed all those 'gods'...
What does that prove?
The fact that there are no more 'gods' on Earth is actually the best thing for us!
In a sense, religion held back the development of science. Maybe it was precisely because there were no more 'gods' that we were able to get where we are today."
Professor Wilson glanced at Alvin, who seemed lost in thought, then smiled at Stark. "You have a point, but why not consider what those 'Immortals' were really trying to accomplish?
In a sense, they were no different in nature from those deities. Of course, they were much more powerful...
But where did they go?"
As if possessed, Alvin replied, "In the end, they burned their souls and carved Runes opposing 'Fate' into the Earth's Core, turning Earth into a source of the 'Light of Freedom'...
They 'slaughtered' and 'drove out' those deities so humanity could determine its own future..."
As he spoke, Alvin looked up in surprise, then shook his head. Looking at Professor Wilson's astonished expression, he said, "This is what I pieced together from information I got in Asgard and a few other places. I don't know if any of it is true.
"But those 'Immortals' never appeared in our history, nor did they ever interfere with it.
"They seemed to prefer that humanity forge its own path, one step at a time!
"Instead of making humanity follow in their footsteps or live according to their ideas, like the other deities..."
Professor Wilson nodded slightly.
